This photo of a tradie is all over the internet: Find out why Aussies are sharing it!

Are you saying that because we're 'safe' we shouldn't concern ourselves with this issue? I am concerned for my children who work full-time despite challenges. They will be physically exhausted long before 70.

This photo of a tradie is all over the internet: Find out why Aussies are sharing it!

The age of 65 was chosen because most men died within a year or two of that age. The policy makers would not have thought that people would live to the age most of us expect to live these days. Added to living longer we need more medical support which is expensive. Nevertheless, we need to...

This photo of a tradie is all over the internet: Find out why Aussies are sharing it!

Well said. People who are strong and have experienced little pain or adversity just don't know their luck. I am one of the luckier ones but I see many others in my family suffer while they push themselves to work. They will not be in any condition to work till they're 65, let alone 70.

I have bought from the I'm perfect range many times but the fruit seems to go off very quickly, sometimes its already off in the bag, though it can't be seen through the bag before purchase. I've gone back to picking my own.

What's the greatest thing your mother ever did for you?

My parents also had the foresight to leave their country to come to one where they did not even know the language. Both worked very hard to give us the great life we have here in Melbourne. My mother ensured that her daughters were well educated (unlike her experience) and was always...

What's the greatest thing your mother ever did for you?

I didn't realise until I was an adult how great my parents were; I thought everybody had a kind family. After my parents died, many of my friends told me that if it hadn't been for my parents they would have no fond memories of their childhood. I feel sad for all who suffered at the hands of...

Will you have enough? The rising amount of super you need for retirement

My husband and I live very comfortably on a lot less than this and even save. We can go on short holidays, go out to dinner occasionally and we have a lot more disposable income than when we were working and had children. We don't smoke and drink very little alcohol but we spend quite a lot on...

‘I have done nothing wrong.’ How one man lost $40k in savings to this CBA phishing scam

Some years ago I had my handbag stolen. Before I'd even had time to report it, my bank put a stop on my card. The thief had bought $300 worth of alcohol, which was out of my 'pattern' of purchases. My license was also stolen and a new one was issued with no attempt made to retrieve the stolen one.

Couple loses $100k life savings to text message scam

Scammers are so good at what they do. My friend had dealings with Optus and the next day received a message to say she needed to pay $100 to complete the service. The email looked legit, had logos and addresses in place. Two days later she received a receipt which appeared to contain all the...

SDC is grateful for… in 2022, what are you grateful for?

We have had a dreadful year but I am grateful that my immediate family is alive and we were able to spend the day together at Christmas. Like most people here I am grateful for the support of friends without whom life would be more difficult. Every day I thank my parents (both deceased now)...

A friend who is now unable to walk or work has been turned down by Centrelink twice on the grounds that his disability is being treated. It is being treated in the hope that it does not worsen, the condition might stabilise but usually worsens. He asked C-link what he could do to be eligible...
