Game-changing hack keeps avocados fresh for TWO WEEKS!

Wait! Why is this suddenly such an incredible hack. My husband and I owned a 1400 tree avocado orchard from 1978 until 2000 when we retired to town. We always kept ripe avocados that we were keeping for our own use in a 10 litre bucket just inside the coolroom door. I thought it was common...

Mum faces backlash after sharing a video of her 6-month-old daughter eating steak — "Choking hazard!"

Everybody always has their own opinions on parenting and personally I think they should keep them to themselves instead of criticising others. Mind you when I had four kids growing up there was no such thing as social media so young Mum's couldn't publicise their babies every moove to the world...

Man who willingly spends $2,650 on “LUXURY” bottled water a month faces backlash — “This is embarrassing!”

It is horrifying to me that anyone can spend money on bottled water when there are millions of people worldwide who haven't any access to fresh water at all.

The Queen struggles to walk during in-person meeting: “I can’t move”

Give the poor woman a break. She is 95 years old and amazingly fit for someone that age. She is still very active, works hard and according to all accounts very bright and charming. I think she's amazing.

Couple who won the lottery cut off by family: “Blood is not thicker than money”

We put in the Lotto using a family syndicate. Each person in the syndicate gets their share to do with as they please. It saves there being any arguments if we do happen to win. Of course the golden rule always applies: tell no-one you won!

“No 54-year-old's body looks like that”: Nicole Kidman’s Vanity Fair cover sparks controversy

I doubt there was any need to photoshop Nicole she is always skinny. The choice of outfit is another thing. Certainly not respectful or suitable for someone who is such a revered actress and noted for her style and elegance.

Parma, Parmi, or Parmy? Victorians divided over spelling of classic pub meal

Personally I don't care how you spell it. I just love them. But this appears to be a state problem. Bundaberg Rum being a Queensland brew probably spelt parmies like Queenslanders do. It certainly doesn't seem like a problem to me. Guess I'm used to seeing parmies on most Queensland pub menus.

Great-grandmother’s secret to dealing with fussy toddlers: Doctor approved!

I agree with the practice of walking away. Trantrums are almost always about attention seeking. Mind you some modern parents just ignore their children on an almost permanent basis. I'm never sure why they had them in the first place.

Man reveals he took out $1 from his fiancée’s gift fund every day she yelled at him: “I saved $320”

In 37 years I could count on one hand the times my husband and I have argued and we both tend to get quieter when we are angry as opposed to yelling which neither of us resort to. This appears to be a very toxic relationship. If I were the fellow I'd be ditching this withch anf spending my money...

Turns out, Australian $5 notes are not as indestructible as they may seem…

I know of a lady who purposely shrinks bank notes on bake paper in the oven and turns them into unique jewellery. Of course this is completely illegal but also completely possible.

Rental-friendly decor hacks that completely transform your living spaces – and they are landlord-friendly!

I remember when I went to Uni in the mid 70's my flatmates and I had a freezing flat with tiled floors. We decided to carpet it with a very cheap rubber backed carpet that was available at the hardware store. Of course being the 70's it was shag pile and bright green! It took a bit of cutting...

Sommelier reveals why you should pair champagne with oysters and NEVER with chocolates

I totally agree on no chocolate with champagne. I just love Rosé champagne and my wonderful hubby gave me a bottle for Valentine's Day. We always have cheese and crackers with our champagne but oysters sounds yummy. I'm not a huge chocolate eater but we sometimes have a small piece of dark...

Shopper’s $30 dollar find turns out to be an INCREDIBLY RARE plant that costs up to $1500!

We had a huge variegated Monstera under the tank stand at our farm. There had been an ordinary one there for about 30 years and then suddenly all the new shoots had variegated leaves. We have no idea how it happened but it was so pretty. Unfortunately it never had beautiful fruit on it again...

A comparison of Australian house prices in 1996 and 2021 — how much has inflation affected the affordability of homes in the current times?

In 1976 my husband and I bought a lovely three bedroom home on a very large block in a very desirable suburb in Brisbane. It cost us $36,000 and our mortgage repayments were $110 per month at a time when were each earning about $400/fortnight. In comparison we borrowed $110,000 in 1987 to pay...

Mum shares a generous act of a stranger in her local Kmart store on social media — “Faith in humanity restored!”

This 8s certainly a great act of generosity which would have been even more incredible if it had not been advertised all over social media by the reality star. God asks us to do our giving in silence not asking for recognition for our gifting.
