    Christmas Competition!

Christmas memories, the magic of midnight Mass with my Mother and siblings, where neighbours greeted you with cheery words as you walked up the hill to the church. The hymns sung with such vigor and beauty of a full church. The walk home with most often starry skies above us. When we arrived...

Why are grandparents now called 'grandfriends' at school events? Here's the controversial reason behind the new name

I am proud to be a grandparent, and a great grandparent. If I were a mature person not related in any way to the child/children I would be happy to be called a grandfriend. Otherwise just leave well alone.

    Do you remember your wedding?

I met my husband when I was 15 and I can remember looking into his very brown eyes as if it was yesterday. We had to wait two years before we could get permission to marry and have been married for 56 years. We are blessed with children, grand children and great grandchildren. What a joy. Our...

The spike in your electricity bill from winter heating is a myth and here’s why – including tips to save money on electricity

This has been the coldest winter we have ever experienced, mainly, we think, because of the moisture in the soil from huge rains in Feb/March. We have reverse airconditioning which we have used every time we felt we needed it in the last three months. We have just received our latest...

REVEALED: Crease-free laundry trick without bringing out the iron

I don't enjoy ironing and have no need for a dryer in my life. As my granddaughter said it only made her lazy when she had a dryer, but no longer. My husband and I have lines under the verandah that we use every time we wash and items are folded and put away, or if they have to be ironed I...

On a tight budget? Mum reveals budget-friendly menu idea to feed family of four for TWO weeks!

Thanks you have gone to a lot of trouble to put this information out there. Unfortunately I do not have access to food at these very cheap prices. Tomatoes, carrots and many other items are not the prices you have quoted, possibly last year but not now.

Savvy shoppers share ‘tried and true’ tips to save money! — Here’s how you can get a bang for your buck

Where have all the lamb neck bones gone, they make a great casserole. I agree about the oats, preferable quick variety, a few tablespoons added to any type of slow cooked meats etc makes the whole dish go further, thicker and more delicious.

TikTok bride ridiculed for baking her own wedding cake – “Some things are better off bought”

Well good on you, I hope the wedding was wonderful. The very best wedding cake, not ours by the way was a homemade chocolate mud cake, very large, covered in thick choc cream icing and dotted very generously with delightful edible real flowers. It was a hit, a treat and a joy to remember.
