Prepare your wallets: Here are several changes in the new financial year

I will be 80 next year and my husband 90 but I do everything from managing finances, chauffeur, cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc ....there are many others like myself. Heaven help us if I get sick or get dementia like he has. We chose to save and became fully self funded. I often wonder if...

Prepare your wallets: Here are several changes in the new financial year

I receive the paltry amount of $153.50 per fortnight for caring for my husband. It would cost the government a darn sight more if he was put into care. I receive a Carer's Allowance not a Carer's Pension.

Banking on trouble: Westpac faces backlash over abrupt remote branch closure

Absolutely correct you can go to Post Office and when our only Bankwest closes in Mandurah, a thriving town south of Perth, the line at the Post Office will get even longer than it is currently.

Pack your bags, no need for visa! See which country Aussies can now explore hassle-free!

Once I would have liked visiting China but in view of recent developments; where you can get arrested and thrown in jail for nothing.....there is no way I would set foot there now.

How one mother's flu turned deadly—could your family be at risk?

Have been warning people about this for years after I had a run in with the flu. Hubby went to golf and one of his golfing mates turned up full of it and insisted on playing. Of course what happened....hubby came home and passed it onto me. The result was almost permanent hearing loss and now...

Add new flavour to your kitchens with Woolworths' huge Kitchen Event!

When I was newly married and living in Port Moresby I had to purchase some kitchen equipment. To this day I have a really great garlic press made in France. It is one of those items that could be handed down through a family. I doubt you could even buy this quality today.

Teenagers allegedly kick 86-year-old woman after breaking into her unit

I live in a retirement village and we have experienced breakins as well. In the early hours of the morning a small group entered the grounds and were not worried about making noise. They were going from unit to unit trying to lift roller doors to access the garage with the intent of getting...

    SCAMS ON FACEBOOK

Absolutely agree. I believe if you treat with suspicion every email that arrives unsolicited and not click on any links you should stay safe. If it says is from a financial institution you deal with contact them direct and find out if it "is" from them.

'What's the deal?': Ruffled tradie questions hardware store’s pet policy

We have a festival every year where I live and people are asked "Not" to bring dogs. A total waste of time...dogs all over the place. I dont go any more as I am afraid of falling over one and breaking limbs.

'What's the deal?': Ruffled tradie questions hardware store’s pet policy

Have only seen a few at my local Bunnings but can fully understand the frustration of the tradies wanting to get in and out and not have to navigate around dogs. Personally it does not bother me one way or the other.
