Old grocery shops

I Rember going to the corner shop for my mother when I was about ten in 1958 . Things like butter, biscuits and many other things would be weighted in front of you and placed in paper bags .Wayne

Those were the days the friendly corner shop that was personal. Now ... well ... a very different world run by a few companies.

My grandmother used to do a weekly shopping list, for collection by the local grocer on a Tuesday afternoon. The order was returned on Thursday mornings with the grocer bringing the groceries into the kitchen for my grandmother. If the grocer knew I was staying with my grandparents he would put in a penny worth of humbugs, included free of charge. He was a wonderful gentleman.
