Glasses don't help cataracts, only removal of your lenses will do. I don't know what you mean by assist. Specsavers referred me for an operation when the time was right.
If glasses don't help then why is it that I can purchase from the chemist glasses that help me read documents, the computer and newspapers?
BY ASSIST I mean that specsavers do NOT help by selling something like what I purchased at the chemist... It was a 4.5 wait and I love reading the news and that is about all I can look forward to nowadays,.Over the past 6 months I have had trignynoms removed and are now on my last proceedure to remove the cataracts from my right eye. ..
So how can you say that glasses won't help with being able to see while having cataracts... It has been the only way I could read documents newspapers etc and I DID use glasses to get me over the hump...
In the past 4.5 years I have worn glasses to read newspapers, documents and computer posting like this one ...TODAY I DON'T NEED GLASSES AND HAVING ONE EYE FIXED THE FAILING EYESIGHT IS BEING REPAIRED AND I CAN AGAIN READ WITHOUT GLASSES ... SOME PEOPLE!!!

Noted, but optometrists don't sell cheap glasses, and I don't think they would recommend those from the chemist. We also don't know the full story.

Also, I didn't say glasses don't help to see. We all know that a cataract affected lens must eventually be replaced.

1. They are basic glasses and NOT cheap.
2. I told you the full Story Do you suggest I don't know what I am talking about when I just spent 4.5 years using chemist glasses?
3. They didn't do any further damage to my eyes irrestpectful of what some upstart of an optometrist may say ... I EXPERIENCED IT and I am telling all the result of my decisions.
4. They don't recommend them or any other optimistrist's glasses.
5. Please don't suggest the I am lying, when I have just completed the experience and am reporting back my own experience. It is of no consequence as to what others experience .. they may have difference experiences and I accept that ...

Dear Vet543, I am not suggesting that you are lying at all. I too have used the glasses from chemist, especially in the evening in dim- lit places. I find them to be great magnifying glasses. My point was that the complainant said Specsavers did not assist her/ him at all. I find it hard to accept this statement at face value when we don't know the exact nature and extent of his/her eye problem. Nowadays people tear down reputations on half truths or a morsel of misleading information. I apologise for upsetting you, it was not my intention.

I have no intention to continue this thread from this point on.
For the third time, The complainant (You are referring to) IS ME.
So we do have ALL the information about this issue.
i (ME) ASKED FOR HELP FROM SPECSAVERS
AGAIN I AM SAYING THAT I (ME) RECEIVE NO HELP, ASSISTANCE OR ADVICE FROM SPECSAVERS.
MY EYES WERE TESTED TWICE OVER 12 MONTHS AND THE OPTOMETRIST ASKED ME IF I HAD $2,000 DOLLARS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE NEEDED EYE REPAIRS. I DIDN'T HAVE THAT SORT OF MONEY SPARE... AND HE SAID, I AM SORRY BUT WE CANNOT HELP OR SUGGEST ANYTHING FOR YOU.
I AM NOT LYING HERE... YOU CAN MEET UP WITH ME AND VISIT SPECSAVERS WITH ME... IF YOU LIVE ANYWHERE NEAR ME. YOU WILL GET THE SAME INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ISSUE THAT I AM REFERRING TO
He then stopped the testing and I went home.
NEXT... 24 months later I received a request from my regular optomitist saying that I was due for a check up.
I didn't take that request serious because I had been to Specsaver (AS MENTIONED ABOVE) and told that the optomitrist was unable to help or suggest anything for
me. (absolutely NO assist, No suggestion, NOTHING ... My previous Optomitrist lived in a previous town where I was living at the time. Rents went up and I moved so after a further 18 months I decided to catch a train and visit the previous optomitrist and I told him what happened with Specsavers, He just shook his head and gave me THAT kind of look that said WHY DID YOU GO TO THEM INSTEAD OF ME (the private optromitrist) so he said that he was meeting up with an optomitrist who was on the committee handling the pensioners and others needing repairs .. I said to him is there a train going to AfRICA so I could go see Fred Hollows (who was alive at that time)
He told me that he would get me fixed sooner. His Friend met me and said he would get the ball rolling and to be patient for a bit. So I was given a new appointment that did cost me $236.00 ... but I paid that amount and waited patiently.
Also that the list I had put my name on was 2,500 and growing

FINALLY, I got to see an OPTOMOLOGIST that is the specialist in the field.\
He agreed to me being accepted and my name was drawn or something at the next meeting of that committee.
In the beginning of JUNE I was examined and told that they would need to removed the Trigonyms first.
A pterygium (Surfer's Eye) is a fleshy, pink, triangular-shaped growth of tissue on the eye that develops from prolonged exposure to sunlight, wind, and dust.

By May/June, this year approx. that was completed and in Augst we started to remove the cataracts
August/September the first cataract (Left Eye0 was completed
NOW October, the second eye is being considered YESTERDAY I went to Caloundra to be measured or approved to have the right eye done. There seems to be a minor complication and so the last cataracts will be removed in approximately 4 weeks. time.
Finally, I am nearly repaired
AND SPECSAVERS HAD NO IMPUT BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE $2,000 TO GIVE THEM.

REMEMBER. I am the complainant NO ONE ELSE... I hope I have made this clear...
We have ALL the information about this issue ...right here and I am not twisting the truth or this report.
SPECSAVERS DID NOTHING TO HELP ME (AMEN)
This is my last post and if this in not clear enough for you .. I am so sorry for your misunderstandings.

I am sorry you went through this trauma. I sincerely wish you the very best of eye health until your next procedure and beyond. I had cataracts remove from both eyes, and life is so much better and brighter without them. Bonus: no more glasses.
