My father was the most caring and thoughful man and whenever he was around everyone was happy and enjoying themselves with his help. This is what I remember about Fathers days spent with him

Many years ago….At my suggestion, we were heading to the city (Sydney) for a Fathers Day lunch at the Botanic Gardens. The boys (12&10) commandeered the trip and directed us to Darling Harbour where we stopped outside Sega World. Dad had to weigh up his choices and we ended up inside having the best fun ever! Duped again!

My Dad was a hard working man, and we kids were expected to be "seen and not heard" - but he was always so very pleased whenever we gave him any kind of a gift, from his favourite Cafe Cream cigars, to a hand made card - he would have this smile that just said "Love it!" and we kids were happy.

My father in law was a quiet man, not much given to conversation. I always tried to give him a gift that he would like, but never got much of a response at the time. Years later, when he suddenly passed away, my husband and I were going through some of his things to save Mum doing it, when I suddenly broke down - the reason? I had bought him a pair of Woody Woodpecker socks, his favourite character, and watched as he carefully put them away, thinking "oh he doesn't like them!" only to find them, well worn and with holes in one of the soles of - he liked them very much, so much so he had worn them out! And that totally undid me. Blessed man!

My best fathers day memory was back in 1975 & i was 10 years old our large family were going bush with all the kids in the back of the old holden station wagon we had a large picnic hamper packed with lunch we headed into the bush and somehow got bogged and couldn't get out so we all piled outa the holden and sat on this remote bush track stuck and not going anywhere in a hurry so we all gathered around telling jokes and playing eye spy and eating our picnic lunch amongst the flys and ants we had the best day ever eventually some guy came past hours later and he pulled us outa the bog
Happiest memories
Happy fathers day to all the dads

It was a long time ago, January 1969, I will never forget it.
Can you imagine in Townsville a beautiful pregnant lady is suffering from near heat exhaustion. As the day grew nearer she was showing signs of the hardship of having a child in the heat when suddenly I get a call to race home as I was needed urgently.
We drove to the hospital gently and made it there with time to spare. I waited in the waiting room for 3+ hours and then the nurse called me in. I asked "Ïs it a boy or girl" . She told to see for myself as we came to door of the room. I walked into the room and there in frontt of me propped up with pillows and the tiniest little angel in her arms. A HUGE SMILE OF RELIEF on her face and a glow that I had never seen the likes of. She and bub had the most beautiful radiance that I have EVER seen. It was as if they were both touched by God.
I truly could not believe how beautiful they both were.
She smiled and handed me this tiny little bundle, I held her for about 2 mins and was so scared that I would hurt her. This tiny newborn dream seemed so fragile and she was Daddy's Girl from the day she was born
THAT WAS MY FIRST FATHER'S DAY .. I will never forget it, even after 56 years, still THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE.

I was four years old and my dad was looking after me while my mum was having my baby sister in hospital. We were sat on a park bench when I told my dad that I was hungry. We had just been to the butchers. My dad asked me if I liked sausages. "Of course I do," I replied. he did no more than, opened the parcel of raw sausages and handed me one. The sausage was nice but the skin was very chewy.

When our girls were little, around 35 years ago I gave them each $5 to buy their Dad a present at Big W. Sharon bought him a Knights footie scarf and Rachel bought him a 99c writing pad and was so chuffed at her bargain. She exclaimed "cheap, eh", in her innocent way. They were so excited to give him their well thought out gifts.

I lost my Father nearly 40 years ago so every Father's Day since 1986 I have only been able to remember him. You don't realise how much you are going to miss your parents until they are gone, You think "Oh, I must tell Dad", then it hits you, that's not possible any more!

OUr great grandson aged 6 rang ad asked his grandfather to speak Scottish for him (Saturday night) before father's day on Sunday. Loved it so much

It was father's day 7 years ago. We were getting ready to go out to lunch when my daughter called to say her water broke.
We had to rush out to hers to look after her 18 month old.

She lived 45 minutes from us and as we arrived my son called asking where were we as him and his wife called in to pick me up As his wives water broke. I promised I would be with her during the birth.

A few a hours later I arrived at the hospital only to be told I couldn't go in. They only allowed one person.

My daughter gave birth at 7.30 pm on father's day and my daughter inlaw gave birth two hours later at 9.30 pm on father's day.

This was the best father's day present ever.

If we won the tickets hubby and I would take Eli and Stella the two born of father's day to the movies

The two girls with hubby when we took them too Katoomba when we heard it was snowing

Father’s Day always reminds me of the year Dad surprised me with tickets to a rugby league game. He was such a sporty guy, and sharing that moment together in the stands — cheering, laughing, and soaking up the atmosphere — is one of my favourite memories with him.

At the time my father had long passed away. My sister and I challenged each other to say "Happy Fathers Day" to 2 complete stranger each. So off to the local coffee shop where we a had a wonderful afternoon full of giggles - although at sometimes we also got a few weird looks. Fun and Love = isn't that what it's all about?,

I feel Ur love, Glen. Happy day.
My son has 2 step sons and 1 biological son. When his stepsons celebrated their first Father's day with him they called him Daddy Darryl.

I’m used to not celebrating Fathers Day because our ( one) son, aged 56, is estranged from us. But this last Fathers Day I received a text saying Happy Fathers Day. I didn’t need anything else to have had a great day!
