Glasses for Colour Blindness

Do you or family members have colour blindness? I came across a video about Enchroma glasses that use new technologies to correct various kinds of colour blindness. Go to enchroma.com. The glasses are not cheap, averaging about A$500.00 per pair, but the benefits are worth it.

these glasses have been around for donkey's years. My almost 60 son considered them when he was in his 20's. Why have they become so expensive?

Corrective glasses have been around a long time. In the mid-1980s, I worked with a young woman who had problems seeing the colour blue. She could not read anything written in blue on a white-board. She could run into blue filing cabinets as she had problems estimating the spacial distance between her and the cabinet. She was prescribed some glasses with orange-tinted lenses and had no further problems when wearing them. Different types of glasses for red-green colour blindness have been produced over the years. As in so many areas of life, technology has made improvements in this field. The EnChroma glasses will not create accurate colour vision, but their website details how they are designed to improve distinguishing colour perception around the red-green connection in a way that improves on past methods. Another brand I saw online is Qinux Blindiglass which is a cheaper option. However, the website does not give much technical detail about how the glasses work.
