Today is Elephant Day! 🐘

Rise and shine! How’s your Tuesday shaping up so far? I’ve got something fun to share—today is Elephant Day! 🐘 In celebration, I went down a little rabbit hole (or should I say… elephant trail?) watching these adorable and hilarious elephant videos. You can watch it below:

Now it got me thinking—do you have a favourite memory, fact, or story about elephants? Maybe you’ve seen one up close, have a fun photo, or just know an interesting tidbit. Share it with us here!

We had elephant ride in Celon now srilanka on our way out to Australia by ship.

I remember as a child and living in East Africa with my parents. We all went on a trip to the Tsavo National Park to see the wild life. Our tour guide took us to see the elephants as apparently a new baby had arrived. He also gave us some mandarins to give the elephants as apparently they love them. However things did not work out quite as my mother had hoped. The baby elephant (which was huge by the way!!) caught a whiff of the mandarin and came charging towards my mother. Of course she panicked and ran to hide behind the car but it ended up the 'baby' elephant chasing her around the car trying to get to the mandarin still in Mum's hand. My father with his trusty movie camera was filming the whole thing while the guide was yelling out to her to drop the mandarin. I watched on from behind the guide - I figured that was the safest place as I could not get to the car while my Mum and 'Baby' Elephant enjoying their chase! Big Mother elephant just kept eating the grass while watching out for her baby from the corner of her eye!

I was in India a few years ago now to vaccinate children for polio. It worked and the country is now polio free and I was invited to a celebration in January this year. But whilst there one of the things I haven't forgotten was tht if I needed a taxi then travel to the destination was by elephant! They were lined up at the railway station and took you to where you wanted!

My son's partner is an elephant keeper at Werribee Zoo in Melbourne. She is so in love with her job & takes so much pride in her work. She was formerly at the Royal Melbourne Zoo and was involved in the training of the elephants for 12 months prior to their relocation to Werribee. We are so proud of her & everything she does ❤️🐘

When I was stilll a small girl we lived in Clacton-on-Sea in Essex, England. We had the circus visit us each year which had a number of elephants among its animals. They always gave a show on the pier which was at the end of Pier Avenue. Along this road near the pier entrance were a number of shops including a fruit and vegetable shop which displayed its wares at the outside of the front of the shop. One day the elephants got loose nn the pier and apparently could smell the fruit at the nearby shop and made a beeline for it. Before the shopkeeper could close up the elephants descended upon his shop to devour his fruit. It was funny to watch but the shopkeeper and the elephant trainer were both trying to frantically get the elephants away from the shop.

I had a ride on an elephant many years ago when they had them at Taronga Park Zoo

I can just remember the Elephant at Taronga zoo all saddled up to give rides to the visitors. I love elephants and I am glad they don't get subjected to that anymore.🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘

So a favourite childhood memory is of growing up in the North of England in a Town that hosted a Large circus every year and my dad always taking me to see the parade of animals when the Circus came into town, my most loved Circus animal was the elephant who I fondly proclaimed as Lunts not being able to pronounce their correct name, dad always hoisted me onto his shoulders so that I could see them clearer one time one of the "Lunts" was quite close and as it passed by gave me a quick once over with his /her trunk making me absolutely squeal with delight at the thought it (the Lunt) was saying hello to me. My family have always called Elephants "Lunts" since my childhood and I have to admit that I still call them that as well, happier times of simple pleasures.

As a little girl I was lucky to have an elephant ride at Melbourne Zoo.
I remember being upset watching people place lit cigarette buts around the rails for the poor unsuspecting elephant to pick up on the way around. It was my first experience of animal cruelty.
