Did Anyone Grow Up In Riverwood or Peakhurst​

Everyone has a story but I feel those of us who grew up around Riverwood and Peakhurst all have a certain story.

Ahh!!!

The Riverwood train bridge! To the right of the bus was Shorty's Dry Cleaners. The chemist was where I bought "itchyheads", 50 mg tablets of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 100 tabs for 90 cents to give you endurance for surfing. The milk bar next door where you would go to chat up girls. A fish and chip shop further up.

I could go on for hours just looking at those photos!!

My facio-maxillary surgeon, Dr Robert Cumming, had his day surgery on the top floor of those Peakhurst shops.
 
My mum always corrected me when I talked about her brother living in Riverwood!
"It's Herne Bay", well it was up to 1958.

That was before my time but my Grandparents lived there since 1952
