I'm sorry I can't join in these memories of cold, snowy winters. My winters were spent swimming in blue lagoons, trying to catch crabs before they disappeared in their holes, checking rock pools for whatever creatures were stranded there, and not a single camera in sight.

When they were little, we took our children, (who had never experienced snow) to England to visit the grannies. We stopped on the motorway for a break, and there was snow all around. Only 1 problem!! We forgot to tell them it was cold! They dashed over to look at it and got a nasty surprise when they tried to pick some up! That was the last time they ever saw snow!! 45 years later and they still remember that trip!

Snow , lovely to look at but in reality cold wet freezing stuff.

🤣🤣🤣 that reminds me of my backyard in Tassie when we were snowed in with tourists. The kids were bored so we got out the boogie boards we had and used them to slide down the bumpy garden. Lucky there was a hedge to stop us or we’d have ended up in the creek. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.🤣
And the creeks are Bl**dy cold down there. I slipped down a bank while fishing for trout. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I grew up in England and had my second child in winter. We had big prams in those days, and the shops were a half hours walk away. I still have vivid memories of walking through snow pushing a pram to do the weekly shop, boots, gloves Scarves heavy coat and my hands and feet were numb ! One of our reasons for leaving England was to escape those awful winters. I have lived in Queensland now for a number of years but when we get a cold snap here I don’t like it but always remember those freezing winters in England in the 60’s.
Sorry no photos we didn’t stay outside long enough to take them 🤣

i wish i could show a photograph. I lived in a very small township in NZ called Lumsden, we were about an hour from Queenstown.
We used to have snow most winters. Can I please assure you it is very pretty when it is virgin snow but, when it gets to the sludge it is far from pretty. I prefer the Icy conditions when the icicles hang from the trees, the sun is glistening and I am playing golf. OH! for those past days again. Now they are in my memory bank.

I do a lot of volunteering on the Sail Training Ship Leeuwin2 in Fremantle. On Christmas day I relieve the crew so the can spend their Christmas with their families. This is me as Santa, with a couple of my helpers.
good santa.

A favourite winter memory for me is when my son and I took my mum for a holiday in a country town, York, in WA. She had Alzheimers, and she loved the holiday. She was excited at everything she did and saw, as though she was experiencing or seeing it for the first time. Her joy was exhiliarating! Every night we had an open fire in our cottage and mum loved to warm her arthritic hands by the fire. This photo says so much about my mum's life and the warmth of her love. She passed away in 2013, and I miss her! But I have this and many other photos to look back on and wonderful memories!

Beautiful memory to cherish.

I don't have a photo but can share an unusual memory. As children waiting for the school bus in winter we participated in an unusual competition. The challenge was to lift sheets of ice off puddles in one piece using feet only. We lived in a very cold Adelaide Hills area.
My parents were puzzled when I suffered from severe chilblains on my feet. I was often the winner!

Our ‘Winter Memory Lane’ competition was a heartwarming success, and we absolutely loved reading your nostalgic stories. Thank you to everyone who entered and shared a little piece of their past with us. 💛

But in the end, only one entry could take the top spot… and the winner, with 20 well-deserved likes, is 🥁 @Rosita1950 !

Congratulations! 🎉 I’ve sent you a private message on our forum. You’ve won a $100 voucher to use at Coles, IGA, or Woolworths.

Ready for another round of fun? This month’s challenge is a classic: Guess the Movie!
