Deb's Dollar Dazzlers: Competitions, Survey Hacks & a Cosy Shepherd’s Pie

Note from the Editor:

This article was kindly written for the SDC by member @Deejay11. This week, Deb has some new competitions to enter, tips on maximising your survey earnings and a delicious Shepherd’s Pie recipe for two.

Competitions:

Here’s a tip when entering competitions. I personally believe (IMHO) that when competitions are run that only offer accommodation, rather than a complete holiday package, the number of entries is lower. So, if you are in a position to pay your own travel/airfares, consider entering!

Some people can’t afford to pay extra, and some others are perhaps not prepared to pay extra on top of the prize.

Over the past years, I have won upmarket ‘accommodation only’ prizes for both Thailand and Bali, as well as a Whitsunday Bare Boat Charter. We just made these trips our annual holiday, paying the extra required for travel, but they were all totally worthwhile.

I have a similar recipe, these sauces make all the difference. My only addition is I put chopped carrots and peas in with the meat.
I do the same but use half carrot, half sweet potato and peas and corn. Then it is a meal in itself with a variety of veg. With winter coming it will be made plenty and lasts a few meals.

Well to throw a spanner in the works, I think I'm going to make it with pork mince. Less fat and all the dishes I have been substituting with pork mince of late has everybody cooing. Dishes include Mexican lasagne, bolognaise, rissoles and moussaka. Also it's cheaper, bonus.
