For certain types of items (cold cuts) I still rather get them at the Deli as I do not like the plastic packaging ones in the cooler shelves.

I like to choose and have cut up for me. The new self service packaged goods provide issues in that they are very thinly cut and you have to buy a certain quantity in the pack. Sometimes I used to buy two frankfurts to make two hot dogs for lunch, now I have to buy a pack of twelve and waste ten. Be lovely to go back to simpler times.

Do you realize that the Delis and Supermarkets get their smallgoods from the same supplier packaged the same way? I like my cut thicker than is in the Supermarket container and know which number on a particular slicing machine to ask for.

Woolworths still have their delicatessen's in the several stores I have shopped at recently.

Meanwhile, Coles have all but eliminated them from their stores.
