Haggling With the Dentist

One day, a woman walks into a dentist's office and asks how much it will cost to extract wisdom teeth. "Eighty dollars," the dentist says.

"That's a ridiculous amount!" the woman says. "Isn't there a cheaper way ?"
"Well," the dentist says, "if you don't use an anesthetic, I can knock the price down to $60."
"That's still too expensive," replies the woman.

"Okay," says the dentist. "If I save on anesthesia and simply rip the teeth out with a pair of pliers, I can knock the price down to $20."
"Nope," moans the woman, "it's still too much."

"Well," says the dentist, scratching his head, "if I let one of my students do it, I suppose I can knock the price down to $10."
"Marvelous," says the woman.
"May I book my mother-in-law for next Tuesday please ?"

I should have said my first was put in a mental institution because of issues with alcoholism etc, and she was a well known socialite in those days. And my second was dead and apparently she was a beautiful loving person pity her son didn’t get her beautiful nature.☹️
Sorry I did not read this before my first reply to you.

I had a great mother in law she just passed away in November 2024 peacefully in her sleep at 94 years old
My wonderful Mother-in-law passed away at age 90 in her sleep. One of my grandmothers passed away during the night before her 80th birthday a year before I was born. Thats the way I want to go, peacefully in my sleep.

I was adopted when 6 days old, found out that I was adopted when 22. Mum and Dad had a lot of talk about whether to tell me or not, they decided they would. Because I didn't know any better, my feelings did not change and I still love my parents and was very grateful that they were the ones who adopted me. Many years later I was contacted by my 'sister' who was searching for her sidlings. She brought me up-to-date about what she had found out and I now know of 3 full sisters, 2 half sisters, 3 half brothers, 1 deceased half brother... so far. She has more follow-up on a number of other leads. She and I share the same mother/father, the father is deceased, she has met out mother however, she is very closed to sharing her life story. I don't have this huge 'urge' to meet her as there is no attachment to her, just a curiosity about her and why she put me up for adoption, will all her other children except for one of my 'full sisters.' It was funny to learn that 2 of my 'full sisters and 1 half brother and the deceased half brother all grew up with 1 to 2 suburbs around where I grew up in the Ryde/Eastwood area. I may have met one or more and didn't know it. Adopted children can have a excellent up-bringing, as in my case however, some of my siblings had a troublesome up-bringing. I give thanks, when I peruse my old photos seeing Mum/Dad and miss them as they have both passed on.....enjoy life everyone, you only have one...
