Me either. Though I once grabbed a non-venomous snake that had been heading to our house and later was trying to get away. At least, I hope it was non-venomous.

It got away safely....

I also threw lemons and rocks at a Brown snake that aggressively approached me at another rural house. I had little children then.

Unfortunately, I had to resort to a shotgun solution. That worked.

We once lived on a mountain west of Tweed Heads and brown snakes were around, but found that if you leave them alone, they leave you alone. Our nearest neighbour (quarter of a mile away up the hill) found a brown snake who liked to laze in the sun across the door of the dunny. Their daughter opened the door to get out and found it there one day and made a huge leap over it to get back to the house.

When I was living next to a creek, I found a snake nest with babies, right next to the glass sliding door. Snakes fascinate me and because there were babies, I didn't get too close to scare mum.
When I called the snake catcher, he told me it was a good thing I kept away, not just because of the offspring with a protective mother - they were brown snakes!

That would have made me go back into the dunny....it would have scared the SHIT out of me, I hate those slithering creatures with a passion.

My wife's younger sister when she was only eight coming home from school a brown snake approached her aggressively she was smart enough to put her school bag down in front of her and just backed away the snake then went off the road into the bush she grabbed her bag and ran home I think the snake was scared by her just walking up to it

My first experience with snakes turned into a bit of a laugh, when we had our first house built as 10 pound poms we were only the 4th. house on the estate and two blocks away was a lid which had been cut out of a 44gal. drum, my 2nd. son had 2 mates and one day they came to our house and said Mr. Ringrose there is a snake under that tin lid, so brave Dennis went into my shed , put on a pair of overalls and my wellington boots which came up to my Knees and grabbed my long - handled spade and we walked down to the block below, I told the children to stand away from the lid I then plipped it over and saw this object coiled up with its head resting on the top of the coils and I started to bring the spade into action, after giving it a few whacks the children came up to see the result and guess what they said? I had killed a blue tonged Lizard.
