May Competition: Childhood Memories – share your story and you could win $100!

We knew we were I for a treat when we'd see Dad's old Land Rover parked outside school in the afternoon. We lived in Cairns and on those oppressively hot summer afternoons, Dad would surprise us (my two sisters and I) and take us for a swim in the local creek. Nothing tasted sweeter than the...

    What is your pet peeve?

This isn't a small thing. I loathe ageist comments. I also get annoyed when people think because you're 'retired' you sit around drinking tea and eating biscuits. Many retirees still contribute to society, whether it's a Board position, volunteering, mentoring, caring for children or care...

Brace yourself for the biggest health insurance premium hike in years

Good luck with your check up with your GP. Your article is misleading though as private health premiums are for hospital and extras. GP visits are claimed through Medicare. The last increase in the Medicare levy was 0.5 percent in July 2014. The levy is 2 percent of your taxable income.

    AIBU 17.01.2025

If I was pregnant and considering baby names, I would not name tbe baby the same name as my sister's dog. She's barking up the wrong tree if she thinks you should rename your dog.

'I simply clicked the link': Man shares how one email put his Centrelink payments at risk

I agree. Back in 1986 the medicare rebate was $18.76. It had increased to around $38 by 2020. That increase certainly didn't take into account the increased costs of medical insurance, rent, wages, technology, electricity, equipment etc. Over the past few years, some positive changes such as...
