Fake $1,500 fine warning over everyday habit causes online confusion

I quite agree that you should not eat and drive. Don’t know whether it really is illegal or not but it makes sense. How can you fully concentrate on the idiots who drive on our roads and eat? Especially I believe dangerous to have a hot drink. Makes sense for me to abstain or pull over and...

AI phone scam warning exposes new $1,500 trap targeting Australians

I agree with all the responses and ignore requests or urgency measures to react. However I am very much aware of the sophisticated methods used and just hope I’m not tricked into acquiescing.

Sunshine Coast council's $1.9 million scam bombshell leaves ratepayers demanding answers

I had occasion to look in the kitchen cupboard of a local Council which shall remain nameless and was amazed to see the stash of bottles of spirits stored there. There was every one you could think of. They made sure they wouldn’t run out!!! Must have cost thousands of$$$.

Petrol prices vary across Australia, but discrepancies of 50cpl are prompting calls for an investigation

I regularly get my car filled at a small country town 30 minutes from Mandurah which has petrol consistently cheaper by quite a few cents. This suits me because I have to go there once a week.

The medicinal cannabis gold rush that's got doctors worried—and what it means for you

No I don’t think I’m ready or need to have medicinal Cannabis thank goodness. I gave up smoking years ago thank goodness because it’s such a socially unacceptable thing now. I don’t drink as much as I did because I don’t want indigestion. So I guess growing older seems to be boring and maybe I...

Your postie’s ride is getting a silent upgrade—and it’s coming before Christmas!

We have had these postie “bikes” for quite a while in WA. To my mind they seem very fragile and not very stable. I would not like to have to negotiate the up’s and downs of lawn edges and driveways on what seems to be quite light vehicle.

From past panics to new shortages, another grocery scramble hits supermarket shelves

Yes I’ve noticed pretty short supplies but although I like sweet potatoes, I remember them being extremely expensive so don’t go out of my way to buy them - only one at a time. But perhaps they are all so expensive now I have access to Spud Shed so I shall visit there now I’m aware of a shortage.

Hidden costs ahead?! Why you need to read your Medicare annual notice NOW

I have changed my GP recently because I was being charged exorbitant charges (I am in receipt of a full aged pension). Fortunately I was able to join a Clinic who bulk bill and I am very satisfied with the change My last clinic used to bulk bill. But over the years gradually increased...

Fine line emerges between security and overreach as customers question banking tactics

Yes I was questioned when I wanted to draw out a sizeable amount of money. I responded that I thought it was my business. However I did think that with scams, the banker was considering my interests. I am very interested to find out that below $10000 they don’t have the right to question I was...

Are you next? Controversial rent advice sparks outrage as rising rents hit hard across cities

There should have been more social planning to ensure that there are affordable housing for those who are needy. Too little attention is given to the health problems and ramping of ambulances. Can’t believe that race tracks are suggested when we don’t have the necessary facilities to ensure our...

Household staple that's stopping your groceries from being delivered

I have always wondered why supermarkets didn’t resort to using the paper bags we used to use before the advent of plastic. They were free then do I don’t see any reason why they should be charged for now.

Firefighters warn: These common household items are ‘ticking time bombs’

How large is the information on the batteries. ? I really don’t know (and I should) whether we have any in our house.

Firefighters warn: These common household items are ‘ticking time bombs’

This is not feasible at the moment. There needs to be a large review about them and legislation developed to ensure safety for all

When old tax debts come back to haunt: What seniors need to know about latest collection drive

How unfair to expect people to remember what they earned years ago. Especially after watching the current series of Robodebt and the fact that there were suicides pertaining to this. Another example of the weaker and more disadvantaged being penalised for what the more capable haven’t done...

$1000 high beam blunder that's catching millions off-guard

I think it’s incredibly selfish to use full beam when you could be blinding other motorists. I did not know it was an offence but I’m glad it is if it prohibits people being so selfish. Apart from anything else one could be hit by someone blinded by your own beam.
