Time to toss all your other sprays! Here’s what older Aussies are using for bites, bacteria, and beyond

Sounds wonderful, but I'd be very sparing when I spray it on broken skin. Eucalyptus oil is a nerve poison

Emergency services levy hike threatens household budgets across country

Me, I think we'd be better off getting rid of state governments (and state boundaries!) and having two tiers of government - Federal, for the whole of Australia, and local - but genuinely local, not these amalgamated councils that serve themselves only.

Woman says faecal transplant saved her and could help many more like her

More proof that health starts with a healthy gut microbiome (translation - normal balance of the right bugs/bacteria in the gut. Maybe I should try it for my depression and arthritis (and some other problems) - Himself is 10 years older than me and hasn't any of my problems - any medical...

Experts warn: stop using this $6 Coles trick for waste disposal, big risk involved!

Lawn clippings - ferment, germinate heat, can cause fires or damage bins. Mow lawn, but leave the clippings on the lawn - provide 'mulch' to reduce water demand, clippings decompose to fertiliae the soil reducing need for chemical lawn fertilizers. Bin liners = more unbiodegradable...

Australia lifts import ban as parasite outbreak raises alarm

Australia is one of the largest beef exporting countries in the world - why should we import beef, even from a country free of diseases such as Foot and Mouth, Rabies, Swine Fever etc. - including screw worm fly infestation. That's what our quarantine measures are all about! Although I...

Emergency services levy hike threatens household budgets across country

The SES is called out to emergencies. People in the SES put their lives on the line sometimes - even for people who ignored warnings of danger. It needs to be funded, one way or another. Yes, it is another tax at a time when people are struggling - but they'd struggle more without the...

Emergency services levy hike threatens household budgets across country

Or is it a genuine attempt to provide sufficient funds for the SES, which gets called out not only to genuine emergencies, but also by people who've had a damaged roof for some time, but done nothing about it until it became really bad. And to repair the damage done by a tree known to be...

'We don't know what they are monitoring': Top lawyer slams secret camera trial

I have no problems with a government trying to reduce it's crippling debt while also trying to make roads safer for the majority to use. Have you been caught with a few speeding fines lately? Have you changed lanes abruptly, nearly (or even) causing an accident? When did you last run...

'We don't know what they are monitoring': Top lawyer slams secret camera trial

Are the details vague? They're trialing cameras in various locations to determine hotspots of driver stupidity. Probably monitoring driver behaviours - speeding, weaving, chopping and changing lanes, running lights. All of which increase road dangers.

Revenue raising while trying to improve road safety - seems fair enough to me.
