The government has asked for bold proposals. Maybe it’s time to consider taxing the family home

Yes their combined pay cuts would bring in heaps $'s & fix a lot of problems!

Ceazy thing is this govt won election on 30% of votes (preference system stinks)! No one wanted them but we are all stuck with them it seems & boy aren't they doing some damage!

Struggling to understand this; does this mean they can tax us annually for simply owning our own home, even if we don't want to rent it or a room in it out (ie deeming that it could POSSIBLY earn a rental income IF we were to rent it out, even if we chose NOT to rent it (or a bedroom in it)...

Seconds before the blaze: Arsonists caught in Penrith attack

Perhaps yer, tho I'm not sure an ebike/escooter hirer would have $800,000 laying around either? And how about decent jail time if fines unaffordable to the crims (junkies/dealers probablycan afford better than common folk too)!

Be honest—would you travel to a town if you couldn’t hire a bike there?

Yer I'm all for safety, but I'm still trying to get my head around the $825,000 fine for non compliance, a business trying to do the right thing, as well as survive & pay bills (& paying taxes, etc) gets harsher penalties than the criminals these times (aggravated burglaries, car thefts...

More cafes are ditching price tags—and the reason isn’t what you’d expect

Nope as per one of the comments "No price No purchase" I'd go elsewhere out of principle- same as if they want to add a sneaky surcharge without letting me know!

Seconds before the blaze: Arsonists caught in Penrith attack

And I bet if they are caught there won't be an $825,000 fine (if any consequences at all), unlike the poor ebike business owner for non-compliance (if he hires out ebikes with batteries that potentially may catch fire he could cop such a harsh fine- a soft target it seems gets harsher penalties...

The financial trick that can stretch your retirement by decades

If we could get 8% return on our super without admin fees, charges, etc every year wouldn't it be grand? Or if we could get 4% on our bank interest without paying so much tax on it how good would that be! If only we could have a crystal ball to know EXACTLY what the share markets (& super, etc)...

Even the Dead Pay Fees: Why Aussie Seniors Should Keep a Close Eye on Their Super

I'm not sure these days but I once put my super on hold many yrs ago so there weren't the usual fees, charges etc (as I couldn't afford to contribute) - has she contacted the super company or an ombudsman, financial advisor or such)?

Even the Dead Pay Fees: Why Aussie Seniors Should Keep a Close Eye on Their Super

It's not just super companies, but so many big business are legalised robbers, untouchable (govt do nothing to protect the hard working tax payers- tho they try to convince us that they do by having a royal commission into supermarkets, banks & the likes & what comes of those? Yet if we hard...
