Last year I met up with an old university friend who I hadn’t seen in many years. She recently had been through a difficult time. I decided to take her to an historic hotel which had Christmas in July celebrations.
After a traditional homemade pumpkin soup and a cup of hot chocolate, there were lots of memories and laughs shared as we sat by the fire and reminisced with stories and old photos.

I HATE winter. I hate being cold. So we ran away north when winter set in. Where I finally could knock something off my bucket list.

I had always longed to visit a German Christmas market, and try out my schoolgirl German..and in 2003, when we lived in England, my dream came true. We went on a bus tour to Rudesheim, Germany and went to many markets, filled with the aroma of gingerbread and the joy of Christmas. But the best one of all was in Rudesheim, right outside our hotel. There we found a real-life Nativity Scene and John, my husband, decided to chat up the donkey in the Nativity Scene.

After 29 sunless January days in Michigan, USA's thumb area, the sun finally presented itself. As I was out driving, I spotted this river refreezing - Mother Nature at her best. Words do not describe what she can produce to surprise us mere mortals.

I do a lot of volunteering on the Sail Training Ship Leeuwin2 in Fremantle. On Christmas day I relieve the crew so the can spend their Christmas with their families. This is me as Santa, with a couple of my helpers.

My mate Garth and I had a job installing acrylic bathtub liners. We also moonlighted as clowns, entertaining at kid's parties. After a big dump of snow, we combined our two pastimes... and invented the "TUB-BOGGAN". Here we are taking the prototype on a jest run...errr...test run!

The Three Sisters Katoomba Had Disappeared !!



I was amazed at how the three sisters were totally hidden by the snow fall

July 2021 it snowed in Katoomba and we decided to take two of our Granddaughter's to see snow for the first time. We built a medium size snow man and a couple of small ones. Their mum then drove them home as it got very cold while hubby, myself and a heavily pregnant daughter enjoyed a hot chocolate and being amazed at the snow hidden three sisters

When I used to come home in the winter time mornings after doing night shift, I always had this thought, look at Al those people going to work on during the cold mornings and I will be in a nice warm bed to sleep during the day and laugh at those being out in and out of the cold all day.

Yep, I lived near there for many years. The weather is kinda freakish in the mountains.

that reminds me of my backyard in Tassie when we were snowed in with tourists. The kids were bored so we got out the boogie boards we had and used them to slide down the bumpy garden. Lucky there was a hedge to stop us or we’d have ended up in the creek. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
