Rosebud Shopping Centre

Look at this beautifully coloured photo from 1964! Shopping really was a different world back then, just two years before decimal currency arrived. Do you remember camp pie? Some called it a pink mystery meat, others loved it in sandwiches with a splash of tomato sauce! Did you shop at places like this?

My dad told me he used to work as a kid with his cousin Mark in Mark's dad's General store in Lockhart. One job was to pack biscuits from a large box into paper bags for sale in the shop. They were allowed to eat any broken biscuits. Dad said sometimes there were none broken, "well not at first"! 😃
Did you get up yo any mischief like that?

Maybe, eat a few lollies or chocolates when l used to pack them in bags for sale.
We used to get the double dip Red Tulip chocolates that were sold as seconds, we packed them in bags to be sold by the weight. I loved the cherry liquors and l could tell which ones they were so l used to bag up 4 ounce bags for me to buy.😊
