Am I being unreasonable for chasing someone down to stop letting their dog use my yard as a bathroom?

'I've got a freshly remodelled front yard that looks really good. Its about a month old. Think something similar to this.'

'Our old front yard was a grass yard. We regularly had issues with people letting their pets poop and pee. Most owners picked up poo, but our yard reeked of pee when it was hot out. I put up a "be respectful no poop or pee signs", they are still up post remodel.'

'Finally, my wife and I bit the bullet to remodel the yard. Now the first 5 feet of the yard next to the sidewalk is rock, and we were hoping that would deter people from letting their dog in our yard. It doesn't seem like it has. It is still a noticeable issue to our noses.'

'This morning, my wife pointed out someone letting their dog go to the bathroom in our yard. As soon as I saw this I headed for the door and by the time I got outside she was in front of my neighbors yard. I walked her way and yelled at her not to let her dog pee and poop in my yard.'

'I pointed out the signs. She said if her dog has to go, her dog has to go. She says, I don't know why you are complaining, I cleaned it up. I was like, "not the pee". She was giving me a big attitude. I yelled at her to teach her dog to poop and pee at home. She told me to shut up and called me a bully. As she continued walking away I said, "my yard is not for your dog!" Am I being unreasonable?'

One day years ago while sitting on my front steps out of sight, some mush and his bloody decided to stop by the fire brigade signpost (just a four inch square concrete post telling them where the fire main is) I could see the mutt was going to back one out? whil he just stands there. He nearly shit himself one I told him that his dog had a crap I'd rub his^ucking nose in it!! prick very smartly picked the bloody thing and ran for it TURD!!!

If dogs are on a lead as they should be then the owners shouldn't be letting them on your property. They should be on the path or road verge. They have no right to be on your property so you are not being unreasonable.

Why not use a spade to pick it up & toss on their side of the property.

You weren't being unreasonable at all....don't think that you will have to face that problem again with that person and their dog, think your message will make her avoid your place in the future. Anyway your front yard looks damn nice if the photo is similar to your own. Great job.

It's quite simple. It may cost a few dollars to set up. Instal a motion activated sprinkler so when the dog enters your property it activates a spray or multiple sprays of water. This will deter the offending dogs from entering your property. Dogs unlike many of their owners are fairly smart. In no time the dog will realise that they will get a big spray if the enter your property. It will work all the time, and you don't even need to be at home. As long as the spray is contained up to your property line, no problem. Or as suggested before instal a big fence.

I used to get them delivered to me the ship sailed (No names, no pack drill) mostly 22's strip them down and toss them over the side, too many years have gone past ro make anything out of it mow.

Having a gun pointed at you isn't that much, unless you take a bullet.

1) In October 1981, an Indonesian soldier pointed a Kalashnikov or what ever at me for attempting to ride my shitty motorbike the wrong way down a one way street in Jalan Legian, Bali. First day in Bali - what a great start to a 28 day visit!

A week later, three Balinese (or most probably, Javanese) bailed me up at Uluwatu. One had a rifle and demanded money to which I replied "Fuck OFF!" The reason why I said that was the rifle had a badly bent barrel!

2) In July 1982, in Mascot, Sydney, my friend and I had a .22 rifle pointed at us by a rival bike gang member to my mate. He fired and my mate copped an in and out through his right shoulder. In less than five seconds, my mate had his sawn off 12 gauge out his motorcycle saddlebags and unloaded both barrels into the footpath just in front of the tosser. Would have shattered both his lower legs but we didn't hang around to find out.

3) In October 1985, in company of a mate, we walked out to the back carpark of the Riverwood Pub in Sydney, only to be confronted by a nutjob brandishing what appeared to be a Magnum. My mate immediately hid behind me. I told the idiot "Don't shoot us - try the streetlight". He obliged and shot the streetlight to smithereens, jumped into his bright purple Ford Cortina and sped off. He was the youngest son of my Mum's best Greek friends. Weird!
