I think the most important thing is not to have raw meat near other food items . Cross contamination is the worst
 
I store anything I open except olive oil in the fridge, haven’t had a problem with any. I found keeping avocados in the fridge keeps them from going brown inside, ever since doing this have never had that disappointing surprise when you cut them and they are off.

Well we keep our bread in the freezer and only take out what we need, as we need it. It thaws out in no time at all and stays fresh. Our top shelf is full of water bottles, I know it's not good to drink chilled water all the time but, the humidity in QLD warrants it. The other half of the top shelf has all the sauces etc. that "your expert" says doesn't need to be refrigeration. Milk, cream, juice and wine are in the door, for easy access, mainly because they are most often used; we don't need to open the door up all the way to get out stuff for beverages.
 
I keep anything that's been opened eg sauces, in the fridge. My son maintains they don't need to go in there and keeps his on his dining table. We keep bread in the freezer. And we have tomato sauce, not ketchup.

Just a point. Ketchup is what the American product is called. They also have tomato sauce available in a tin, but it is a sauce very similar to Passata Sauce. It is not the same as Australian Tomato Sauce.

What is wrong with ketchup? Heinz do a Tomato Ketchup, it is thicker than tomato sauce and tastes better too.

Sorry, but I don’t understand. It’s not an americamism. It’s the name of the product. There are certainly plenty of things to dislike about Americans but food name seem a trifle silly.🤪
 
Just a point. Ketchup is what the American product is called. They also have tomato sauce available in a tin, but it is a sauce very similar to Passata Sauce. It is not the same as Australian Tomato Sauce.
That is for sure...... Australian brands are watery... I steer clear of them

If bread is in fridge when I get a couple of slices out I put in microwave for 3 seconds it feels like fresh bread
