Farnham’s son, Robert, shared images on social media showing his father in conversation with a family friend at the well-known Bourke Street restaurant.

The night featured a special appearance by Australian accordion star Hans, who performed ‘Padam Padam’ by Kylie Minogue.
At one point, Hans managed to get a smile from John after promising to play one of the singer’s classic hits.
As the evening wrapped up, John and Jill posed for a family photo with their sons, Robert and James, along with their respective partners, Melissa and Tessa.
Last month, James provided an update on his father’s health, revealing that he was doing well after having a cancerous tumour removed.
‘He’s doing great,’ James said.
‘He’s walking around, kicking goals, and annoying mum as normal.’
Host Natalie Barr responded: ‘As long as he’s annoying someone, you know he’s on the mend.’
Farnham’s cancer battle began when Jill urged him to have a persistent mouth ulcer checked, leading to the discovery of a malignant tumour.
The subsequent surgery lasted 12 hours and involved 26 doctors, requiring the removal of sections of his mouth and jaw.
Following the operation, he underwent eight weeks of radiation treatment and was declared cancer-free after a year.
In his memoir The Voice Inside, he reflected on the impact of his diagnosis and the challenges he faced.
‘My facial disfigurement from the surgery means I can't open my mouth wide enough for a strip of spaghetti, let alone to sing,’ he wrote.
‘I can't get the movement to make the sounds I want to make, that's where the vibrations and my voice come from. It's a very disconcerting thing. And trying hurts.’
Despite the difficulties, he remained hopeful about the possibility of performing again.
‘I was given a gift and to be able to get out there and affect people in some way was special, I would like to continue doing that,’ he shared.
Farnham believed his decades-long smoking habit contributed to his diagnosis.
‘Cancer doesn't discriminate, but as soon as I was told the results, I couldn't help thinking it was my own fault, I smoked very heavily all my life,’ he admitted.
He revealed that he started smoking at 14, hiding it from his parents after they caught him early on.
His memoir, co-written with Poppy Stockell, detailed his rise to stardom, his battles, and his resilience, offering fans an intimate look at his journey.
