‘It’s my f****** show’: Famous comedian snaps at disruptive audience members

Live performances can be unpredictable, especially when audience behaviour disrupts the show.

What started as a routine comedy gig took an unexpected turn when tensions flared between a well-known comedian and a group of disruptive attendees.

What unfolded next had the entire crowd—and social media—divided.

A comedy show took a dramatic turn when Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes lost his patience with three disruptive audience members, stopping his performance mid-set to call them out.

The 54-year-old comedian was in the middle of his sell-out show at the Woodcroft Hotel in Adelaide when he reached his breaking point.

Repeated interruptions from a group of women pushed Hughesy to the edge, leading him to unleash a profanity-laden rant before demanding their removal.

‘Alright, so that's it. No, sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's my f****** show,’ he snapped as the chatter continued.

‘Seriously, this is f****** ridiculous...If you don't shut up, that's it.

‘When someone is speaking like that—it's so f****** distracting... It's really the height of rudeness.’

Despite multiple warnings, the women refused to quiet down, forcing security to step in.

As they were escorted out, one even stopped to give Hughesy a hug, adding a bizarre twist to the heated exchange.

Hughesy later defended his actions, insisting he had no choice.

‘It seems like almost everyone is on my side here,’ he said.

‘I don't wanna kick people out but if they refuse to stop talking there's no other choice!

‘Hopefully this story might inspire others to not ruin shows/movies for other paying audience members!’

The audience had backed him in the moment, chanting ‘out, out, out’ as security led the women away.

One attendee said the comedian was just trying to do his job and called the trio’s behaviour ‘rude and disrespectful’.

Following the incident, Hughesy took to social media to ask his followers if ejecting disruptive audience members was the right move.

The response was overwhelmingly in his favour.

‘Absolutely! It’s your workplace!’ one supporter commented.

‘100% good on you. There's nothing more annoying to other patrons sitting near them too, hearing them f****** chit-chat,’ another added.

‘Like mate, I didn't pay to hear about your day! Good on you for booting them. I took my kids to a show today and even my own kid was shushed by me.’

Even radio host Kyle Sandilands, Hughesy’s longtime industry rival, backed his decision.

Discussing the drama on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, Sandilands supported Hughesy's actions.

‘They talked in the middle of his comedy show... They were told three times,’ he said.

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson added: ‘He was p***** off, like genuinely p***** off there.

‘... And that's fair enough, like I do get that, if they were told three times, that is rude.’

Sandilands jokingly speculated: ‘Unless one was having a medical episode and he couldn't really understand what they were chatting about.’

Not everyone was sympathetic, with one critic quipping: ‘Dave Hughes has least favourite aunt energy.’

Hughesy, however, appeared unfazed.

Posting a photo from his next gig at the Garden of Unearthly Delights in Adelaide, he laughed off the drama.

‘Didn't kick anyone out tonight!’ he joked.

I think those ladies were rude if they were talking that loud at his show. I have a friend who is a comedian at The comedy club and constant disruption can throw them off.
Gosh I can get thrown of my line of thought when hubby interrupts me.

However I think he went too far. Security should have talked to them and if they needed to be asked to leave then Security should have also done that.

Being in a Pub, I'm thinking the ladies might have had a drink or two. I saw this on the news the other day and thought they actually looked like they had a drink or two. These women were not young either.

I think he did the right thing. People pay money to see a show and if some in the audience spoil that for them either distracting the performer or talking when others are trying to listen then they definitely deserve to be kicked out.

These women were old enough to know better.....let alone having to be asked multiple times to quieten down.....they got what they deserved......and the rest of the audience got what they had also paid for.

If I paid my hard earned money to see a show and was sitting next to a bunch of drunk, brain dead, self absorbed, selfish idiots, men or women, I would call security to step in myself.
If it was a free show, different matter.
If they were not interested enough to watch and listen, then they should have stayed in a non performing venue so they could concentrate on killing a few more thousand brain cells.
Regardless of who the performer is, this is the way they make a living.

Before attending a show at Twin Towns RSL Club in TweeedHeads/Coolangatta many years ago where we had two English Comedians entertaining, we were advised before it started that they would not tolerate interruptions of any kind and any person doing so would be thrown out. I think this is an excellent idea because it gets rid of the riff-raff before they start interrupting.

Hughesy launched into a profanity-filled rant, calling their behavior ‘the height of rudeness

He's obviously not a gentleman. All he had to do was stop the show and ask them to leave. No need for the language. (or is bad language supposed to be funny)
