Old Car Features

They don’t make them like they used to! Modern cars might have all the bells and whistles, but there’s something special about the simplicity of older cars. Remember those handy little quarter windows for ventilation? No buttons, no fuss—just a fresh breeze whenever you wanted. Some things were just meant to be simple!

My old FX Holden had the headlight dipper switch/foot button on the floor. Everyone knew it was there, not like modern cars where the headlight control could be either on the right or left side of the steering column. Can get very confusing when you want to turn a corner and the wipers come on.

I only need a car to get from A to B so I don't need any fancy gadgets, an old banger does me. If memory serves we only paid around $2000 for our last car years ago and it's still going strong :)

The best part was... the tough body and those great rubber bumpers! In almost any minor accident, the whole car wouldn't fall apart or scratch the paint, as they do today.
Nowadays, I sometimes considered tying a ring of used tyres around the car!

Not so old but I hate that manual transmissions are becoming harder to find. Putting the car in drive and steering is not what I call real driving. I find autos a bit boring.
You sound just like my brother TonyV. We switched to an automatic when I developed arthritis in my feet & had trouble with constantly changing gears, now we love our automatic cars & wouldn’t change back ever. But it’s a case of each to their own.
