We got them both and with 7 kids in the family we certainly were not rich. They only got served at rich kids parties.![]()
I didn't move in those circles, fairy bread at our shindigs.
We were far from rich I grew up in a housing commission area and we had them because my grandmother made them who taught me to make them. They only got served at rich kids parties.![]()

Ah the good old chocolate crackles with sprinkles, everything was home made back then and tasted so good. Today I struggle to find a decent bakery that doesn't taste mass produced. You cannot beat home cooking! We were far from rich I grew up in a housing commission area and we had them because my grandmother made them who taught me to make them.

I would love to know where one of those old fashioned cake shops are.Ah the good old chocolate crackles with sprinkles, everything was home made back then and tasted so good. Today I struggle to find a decent bakery that doesn't taste mass produced. You cannot beat home cooking!

Glad I wasn’t invited I would have scoffed the lotAs a joke I made butterfly cakes for my son’s 21st, same as I had made for his birthdays when he was a child. They were an absolute hit with his friends, my only regret was that I hadn't made more of them.
It just shows how good all the old recipes from the past were.As a joke I made butterfly cakes for my son’s 21st, same as I had made for his birthdays when he was a child. They were an absolute hit with his friends, my only regret was that I hadn't made more of them.
You should, I reckon you'd make a killing with your beautiful cooking skills! Spose it pays to have good mates who can also cook!I would love to know where one of those old fashioned cake shops are.
I bake everything . I'm with you hate the mass production.
Maybe I should open a bakery and introduce all the old time classics to thie new generation
Combined parties are great and teaches sharing. Imagine the fun you could have planning this party with all the good old party food and entertaining fun games. Pass the parcel, what's the time Mr Wolf, pin the tail on the donkey was always fun as you never knew where the tail would be pinned after you spun them around 3 times. We used to make lolly baskets for the kids to take home. We would all sit down at a big table and eat all this beautiful home made food with little boys, cakes, choccy crackles and the birthday cake last.Three of my granddaughters birthdays are at the end of Feb and beginning of march I'm thinking of giving them a combined birthday party done the old fashioned way including pin the tail on the donkey
That's exactly the kind of party I'm now planning . It's for two girls turning 7 and one turning 6 and the party guests will consist of my other 12 of 19 grandchildren who are all under 7. Who needs friends right !!Combined parties are great and teaches sharing. Imagine the fun you could have planning this party with all the good old party food and entertaining fun games.
