She recently shared her cheap and simple solution for a tasty family dinner on a popular Facebook page dedicated to Aldi fans, and it seems as though many have gone wild for her ingenuity.

We’ll break down the plan for you. First, pick up a $6 pack of 12 Wagyu Beef Meatballs and a 12-pack of Brioche Buns (also $6) from the store and do your best not to drool over them.

Next, get ready to work some magic in the kitchen: flatten the meatballs (making sure not to squash all the flavour out of them!) and you’ll have the perfect patties for a scrumptious slider-style dinner. Not only is this perfect for the whole family or your friends of at least four people, but it also means you’re only spending $1.50 per head!

The idea took off, with dozens of people praising her creativity online. 'Ohhhh, I'm going to make these for my kids today... great idea!' wrote one appreciative customer, while another announced, 'Wow! They look yummy!'. Even better, another started saving money immediately – 'I just did this for lunch, and they were a hit!'

But that’s not all the pack of 12 meatballs can do – cut them in half, and you have 24 mini slider-style patties, perfect for those large gatherings you’re having or impromptu camping trips.

Looking for something a bit more ‘unique’? Others suggested using the beef meatballs to make sweet sausage rolls, using a bit of puff pastry and some BBQ sauce, or ‘money bags’ dumplings – wrapped in wonton pastry and steamed until soft and tender.

For an even quicker meal option, one person suggested freezing the flattened meatballs between small bags (or sheets of baking paper) to ensure they retain their flavour and shape. You can then defrost them at a later stage and cook them in the microwave for a few minutes on each side.

Your sides are sorted too, thanks to the varied selection of frozen and fresh vegetables Aldi stocks in its frozen aisle.

So, there you have it – no more stressing over what’s for dinner or fretting over your budgets with this one simple Aldi trick – you’re welcome!

Plus, if you want to up the ante and mimic that sweet and salty Big Mac sauce you can pick up the Aldi-exclusive ‘Magnifisauce’, which has some amazing reviews kicking around everywhere!

Key Takeaways

  • A Victorian mum has shared her simple and cost-effective dinner trick with Aldi's ready-made Wagyu Beef Meatballs and Brioche buns, costing just $1.50 per serving.
  • She suggested squashing the meatballs into patties and using them in the store's 12-pack of $7 brioche buns to make burgers.
  • The idea was well-received, with many other shoppers praising the hack and sharing their own variations.
  • Aldi shoppers are also praising the store's ‘Magnifisauce’, a product that has been likened to the Big Mac sauce by customers.

But, as our ingenious Aussie mum has shown, creating these mouthwatering meals for an economical price is just one part of the equation. How about some simple but effective budgeting tips that help you squeeze a little more value out of your hard-earned money? Well, strap yourself in folks, because we've got you covered.

Consider adopting a shopping list and sticking to it faithfully. Need that extra pack of chocolate cookies? Sure we all do, but if it's not on your list, resist the urge!

Next up is leveraging those store specials and discounts. If you spot an item that regularly features in your meals marked down, consider buying a few extra for the pantry or freezer.

Being mindful of food waste is also a biggie. Remember those Wagyu Beef Meatballs from our mum-prepared slider dinner? They could come in handy for another meal if you bought an extra pack when it's on sale.

Make sure to factor in the nutritional value too. Most supermarkets offer an impressive range of fresh veggies and fruits, lean meats, and a bevy of grains and seeds. So while you cut costs, you don't have to compromise on the health factor.

And last but not least, shop for home-branded products. Shopping for home-branded products is a savvy budgeting choice because they offer good quality at a lower cost, allowing Aussies to save money without compromising on essential groceries.

So, members– what inexpensive tricks have you learnt from shopping at the store? Tell us all about it in the comments below!

Sorry did not think the first reply went through so did it again but my point remains the same!

Why squash meatballs, I bought a pack of 12 Jindarra hamburgers at Aldi, last week, for S10 and 2 packs of hamburger buns (6/pack) for $8 that makes 12 hamburgers for $18.
That makes them $1.50 each, half the price of the meatballs, which, actually work out to $3 each.I used to buy the Wagu ones, but found by the time you add onions, sauce, egg, bacon or whatever you like you can't taste the difference anyway so way pay more.
