speeding from police​

driving down the road and police behind me, I speed up and they put on their flashing lights.
I speed up more, they speed up with lights flashing and now siren blaring. I speed up a bit more then they overtake me and block me.
"didn't you see us behind you?" says one policeman.
"yes I did" I replied.
"then why didn't you stop?" he says
I replied " well, it's like this officer, a couple of years ago my wife left me for one of you lot and I thought you were trying to bring her back"
