I'll go first:

Creancer: Guardian or Mentor
 
Flotsam & Jetsam: cargo that washes ashore after a ship has hit a reef etc.
 
Mortar & Pestle: Handheld grinding tool and bowl.
 
Platitude
Commonplace or trite remark made as if it were important

Government by society as a whole.

Gallomania:
Craze or obsession with France, the French and anything French

NUANCE - inflections in the english language
 
Conniption.. a sudden, emotional outburst.
 
Curmudgeon.... "A bad tempered person, especially an old one."

I was once called a "crusty old curmudgeon" in a funny story written by a fellow member in our motorcycling club newsletter. It was a fun story made up around quite a few of our members.
After reading the story, I had to look the word up. I congratulated him and reckoned it was a great word find.
 
I wish the people in my motorcycle club were that smart. I'd have to look it up too. 👍
