Young Aussie artist who bares a striking resemblance to Kate Middleton hopes to get cast for The Crown — "We'll see how it goes!”

It's no secret that The Crown is one of the most popular shows on television. The drama, which chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II, has captivated audiences around the world.

Now, one Australian artist is hoping to join the cast of the hit show. Painter Brittany Dixon has applied to play the role of the Duchess of Cambridge on The Crown.

Dixon, who lives on the Gold Coast, Queensland, has gained attention for her uncanny resemblance to Kate Middleton.

While it remains to be seen if Dixon will land the role on The Crown, she has certainly caught the attention of the show's producers.

The artist shared: "So I did end up applying."

"They just wanted a selfie, some general information and a 30-second video of me talking about something I love. Obviously, I talked about painting."

"So we'll see how it goes if they even see it. Anyway, thanks guys for being so nice. Back to painting."

In a separate video, Brittany said that she was overwhelmed by the attention she is receiving online.

"I was not expecting that video to get that much attention," she quipped.

She also sat down for an interview with the Today Show's Karl and Ally where she declared that it was an honour to be told that she resembled Kate Middleton.

The painter said: "It's been a few years people have been telling me I look like her. I would just brush it off but it's really sort of amusing lately how many times I've heard it."

"I love it because she is somebody I admire so, of course, I'm going to be flattered. It's awesome."

It comes after Netflix announced that the production team is on the lookout for a young actress to play Kate Middleton in the upcoming season of The Crown.

The historical drama has been a huge hit with audiences, thanks to its gripping portrayal of the British royal family. And with Kate being one of the most popular members of the monarchy, it makes sense that the show would want to include her in its upcoming season.

Interestingly, the casting call for a young Kate specifically mentions that producers are looking for someone with a strong physical resemblance to the real-life Duchess of Cambridge.

The announcement read: "Robert Stern, Casting Director of the Netflix series THE CROWN, is searching for an exceptional young actor to play KATE MIDDLETON in the next series."

"This is a good role in this award-winning drama and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance. Please see photographs for reference."

"Shooting will commence late August 2022 in the UK."

"No previous professional acting experience required. We are very experienced in providing a great deal of support for the young actors and their families through what they find is a uniquely rewarding creative process."

In addition to Kate, producers are also looking for actors to take on the roles of Prince William and Prince Harry.

A number of social media users expressed their support for Brittany, with many saying that they are convinced that she'll snatch the role.

One person wrote: "You're an artist! Kate studied art history in university and also paints and loves to take pictures."

"Hey, honey! Wishing you all the best. Your demeanour is so beautifully elegant like Kate too. I really hope you get it. Good luck we're rooting for you," another added.

A third chimed in: "No more painting I'm sorry, you need to fly over to the UK and help out in the palace."
