You won't believe what this Aussie woman found lurking under her couch!
It's not too uncommon to come across a creepy crawly at home from time to time, often causing a few screams and some chaos. But when the unwelcome guest is huge, we'd definitely be running screaming for the exit!
That was the experience of a Queensland woman whose intrusion story has gone viral with over 300,000 views.
The woman, who lives on the Sunshine Coast, captured the moment a massive two-metre carpet python slithered out from under her sofa and began making its way around her home.
'That is f**king huge,' the Sunshine Coast resident said in a video posted on social media.
Luckily, the reptile decided to make its own way out by sliding through the glass door onto the back patio. Understandably relieved, the woman shut the door tight behind it as her friend offered up some sensible advice.
'Is there anywhere else out there it can come in? You need to call snake catcher straight away.'
She called the professionals for the job, the Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7.
Once Dan from the snake-catching service arrived on the scene, the carpet python had already made its way into the garden and was ready to be released back into the wild, which it did at record speed.
'They are probably one of the more common snakes you'll get around here,' Dan said. 'They can grow to just about three metres or over. And they are beautiful.'
The video of the event has certainly been garnering interest from social media users. Most people seemed terrified by the story, with comments like, 'If I see this fellow in my house, I'm packing up and leaving,' and 'He can have my house.'
‘How do they get inside? I’ve never understood that!’ one person asked.
Another wrote, ‘Looked a lot longer than 2 metres! Beautiful...at a distance!’
If you see this animal around, it's important to remember that the carpet python isn't venomous. However, it has rows of sharp teeth which can certainly cause injury through lacerations and punctures.
