You won't believe these outrageous property rules that left an Airbnb guest dumbfounded!

Airbnb holidays are all the rage these days–and for good reason. They offer travellers reasonably priced and unique accommodation experiences that form the highlight of their holiday.

However, one guest recently had the experience of a lifetime that she wasn't expecting. And that was the number of rules and instructions that had been placed all around the property.

Becky, a woman on a holiday with her family, had booked the property as a getaway, but what she found upon entering the property left her feeling frustrated and bemused instead.

She shared a video of her experience on social media with the caption, 'Y’all I don’t get it. We stayed at an Airbnb house with another family over the weekend. The rules displayed all over the house just killed me. It seemed like every room and every surface had a note. It almost felt like it wasn’t a vacation with So. Many. Rules.'

She showed all the passive-aggressive notes left around the house on various surfaces and household items warning guests against touching anything 'antique' or 'fragile'–even if that thing was something as simple as a door handle.

One note attached to a divider said it 'would break if you looked at them the wrong way', and another to a dining table belonging to the owner’s grandmother said it had to be covered with a placemat and told renters 'to be kind to it'.

Some notes were reasonable though, such as notifying renters that the microwave was automatic or asking not to clean marble countertops with abrasives.

A large warning stuck above the beds also stressed that jumping was not allowed and ‘any breakage of beds will be immediately passed to renters’.

Becky was not too pleased with her stay, and her bewilderment and confusion resonated with many online.

‘Why do they have so many personal or sentimental items in a space that is rented out?’ one user asked.

Another user asked, ‘Why put expensive/antique stuff in a short-term rental property if you’re this protective?’

Members, it's important to remember that while Airbnb can be incredibly convenient and provide unique experiences, it's also essential that you check the terms and conditions before you book to make sure you'll have a pleasant stay.

This includes reading previous reviews and checking to see if there are any 'house rules'. The last thing you want is to struggle to make the most of your trip due to a never-ending list of rules.

And if you feel as though the rental listing has misled you, make sure you don't hesitate to contact the owner or other appropriate channels for assistance.
