Woolworths pulls two popular dairy-free milk products from its shelves after an undeclared allergen is detected

Two popular non-dairy milk products are being pulled from the shelves of Woolworths stores.

The supermarket giant issued an urgent recall for the Woolworths Macro Certified Organic Unsweetened Coconut Milk (1L) and Woolworths Macro Certified Organic Naturally Sweet Rice Milk (1L) after an undeclared allergen, milk, was detected in them.

It was said that bottles of the Macro Certified Organic Unsweetened Coconut Milk 1L were exclusively retailed at Woolworths stores in Victoria, while Macro Certified Organic Naturally Sweet Rice Milk 1L was made available for purchase at Woolworths stores in NSW and Queensland.

Additionally, the products were sold in Woolworths stores from April 6, 2022 to April 19, 2022.

The recalled products have the following best before dates:

  • Macro Certified Organic Unsweetened Coconut Milk 1L: 03/04/2023
  • Macro Certified Organic Naturally Sweet Rice Milk 1L: 29/03/2023

Food Standards Australia warned customers who suspect to have purchased the product to carefully read its label and check if it's part of the batch that was being recalled, informing consumers of the possible reactions they would incur if they ingest the products.

The group said: “The recall is due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (milk).”

“Any consumers who have a milk allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed."

“Consumers who have a milk allergy or intolerance should not consume this product and should return it to their nearest Woolworths Supermarket or Metro Stores for a full refund."

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

More information on the recall can be found on this link.

We highly encourage our members who purchased the products to thoroughly check the labels of your items and contact Woolworths customer service via phone call at 1800 103 515 or via email at [email protected] for a full refund.
