Woolworths launches limited edition bakery range to support Paralympics Australia!

As excitement builds for the upcoming Paralympic Games, a major supermarket chain is offering a special range of themed bakery products to show its support for the Australian Paralympic Team.

Customers can indulge in new sweet treats and contribute to a good cause, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the national team.

This initiative highlights the supermarket’s commitment to supporting athletes as they prepare for the upcoming competition.

From July 24th to August 31st, Woolworths supermarkets across the nation will offer a limited edition 'Green & Gold' bakery range.

This isn't just a treat for the senses; it's a chance to contribute to a worthy cause, as Woolworths will donate $1 from every purchase within this range directly to Paralympics Australia.

The 'Green & Gold' bakery range is a tribute to the Australian Paralympic Team, featuring three delectable sweet treats that are sure to capture the hearts (and stomachs) of Aussies everywhere.

Let's take a closer look at what's on offer:

Woolworths Green & Gold Soccer Ball Smash Cake 1.2kg ($38)

A showstopper in its own right, the iconic Woolworths Smash Cake has been transformed into a soccer ball to celebrate the sportsmanship and competitive spirit of our athletes.

This two-tiered chocolate sponge cake is layered and coated with rich chocolate buttercream, adorned with green and gold sprinkles, and crowned with a yellow-coloured white chocolate soccer ball dome that's filled with more green and gold sweet surprises.

Woolworths Green & Gold Donuts 4pk ($5.75)

For those who prefer their treats to be soft and fluffy, these yeast-raised doughnuts are a dream come true.

Topped with a pineapple-flavoured ganache and a sprinkle of green and gold, they're a perfect snack to enjoy while cheering on our champions.

Woolworths Green & Gold Iced Cupcakes 9pk ($9)

Ideal for sharing with friends and family, these vanilla cupcakes are iced with swirls of yellow vanilla buttercream and topped with green and gold white chocolate buttons, making them a festive addition to any Paralympic viewing party.

However, the support doesn't stop at the bakery. Customers can also participate in the Medal Token Appeal by purchasing a $3 Gold Token, a $2 Silver Token, or a $1 Bronze Token at the checkout from July 10 to August 13.

These tokens are a symbolic way to contribute to the cause, with all proceeds going to Paralympics Australia.

For those who prefer the convenience of online shopping, there's also the option to donate and purchase tokens digitally.

Natalie Davis, Woolworths Supermarkets Managing Director, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, saying, ‘As the Fresh Food Partner of the Australian Olympic and Paralympic Teams, we’re getting behind the team in green and gold as they compete in the coming weeks.’

‘We’re delighted to extend our support for Paralympics Australia with the donations from our exclusive bakery range, and would like to thank our customers and team members for taking part in the Medal Token Appeal.’

‘Small change can make a big difference, and we wish all of our Olympic and Paralympic teams good luck achieving their personal bests in Paris,’ she added.

This sentiment was echoed by Australian Wheelchair Rugby Paralympian Ryley Batt, who said, ‘What a fun way to join in the excitement of the games and celebrate your team spirit with sweet treats that are helping to support our Aussie Paralympians.’

‘I’ve got lots of family and friends tuning in at home to watch the games who’ll be sharing these sweet treats. The Smash Cake looks gold-medal worthy!’

Kate McLoughlin, 2024 Australian Paralympic Team Chef de Mission, also expressed gratitude for Woolworths' continued support, saying, ‘We are incredibly grateful for Woolworths' continued support of the Australian Paralympic Team and this fundraising initiative instore and online is a fantastic way for Australians to show their support for our athletes as they prepare to compete in Paris.’

‘Every dollar raised will make a real difference in helping our athletes achieve their dreams.’

The Green & Gold Bakery items are available in all Woolworths supermarkets and online, but only while stocks last.

So, not only can you indulge in some sweet treats, but you can also do so knowing you're supporting our Paralympians as they prepare to shine on the world stage.
