Woolworths’ New Choc Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake – A Father’s Day Treat Worth Digging Into

The only thing better than cookie dough or cheesecake? A combination of both!

Father’s Day is right around the corner in Australia (Sunday, September 7th), and Woolworths has released a dessert that’s set to become the star of the celebration table – the Cookie Dough Cheesecake.

First Impressions

At 900g, this cheesecake will set you back $23 but makes an impressive centrepiece straight out of the box. You could sprinkle some icing sugar on top if you want to get even fancier, but that will make it harder to take the piece with the most cookie dough for yourself…

It features a chocolate chip cookie base, layered with creamy cheesecake and loaded with chocolate chip cookie dough pieces (on top and throughout).

It looks indulgent without being too flashy or over the top – the kind of dessert that makes you want to grab a fork straight away, but not one you’re a little embarrassed to carry to the checkout.

As soon as we opened the packaging, the whole office smelt like fresh cookies – we were salivating (we even had to sacrifice a piece to our office neighbour).

Flavour & Texture

The cookie base adds a nice crunchy and crumbly contrast to the silky cheesecake centre, while the cookie dough pieces bring that burst of sweetness that our sweet-toothed team loved. The cheesecake itself is smooth and not too heavy (cream cheese forward), which helps balance the richness of the cookie dough topping.

Perfect for Father’s Day

Woolworths Product Developer for Cakes, Cassandra Guevarra, said, ‘The new Choc Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake is designed to be the perfect centrepiece for Father's Day celebrations, bringing together the comforting nostalgia of cookie dough with the beloved creaminess of cheesecake.’

We think they’ve nailed it. This cheesecake feels like a crowd-pleaser, and it’s easy to imagine it being polished off after a Sunday lunch. Or, maybe even beforehand if you’re feeling cheeky.

SDC Team Verdict

Jon: This is too dangerous to have in the house. It might actually cause a marital dispute if we both reach for the last piece. Proceed with caution.

Maddie: Coming soon!

Ash: I don’t usually reach for desserts like this but I was surprised to find it’s the kind of cake everyone at the table can enjoy (not just young kids). Not sure my family could polish off nearly a kilogram of cheesecake alone but I can see the appeal for special occasions.

April: Despite its name, there was even more cookie dough than I expected (I know, I know)! A very pleasant and welcome surprise. It goes without saying, but if you love cheesecake, you will undoubtedly love this. It’s a classic New York cheesecake texture and taste, which leans heavily on the cream cheese. If you’re coming to this more as a cookie lover, just keep in mind that it’s definitely the secondary flavour. I’d definitely like to buy this again, if only my birthday were coming up!

It gets our tick of approval!

Will you try this limited-edition treat?

If you’re not a fan of cookie dough (though, I’m not sure that statement applies to anyone), the usual well-loved cheesecake flavours Biscoff, Passionfruit, and Lemon Curd, are still available in store.

But, if you’re looking for something a little different but still familiar enough to please the whole family, this is a solid choice – especially for this Father’s Day.

The Cookie Dough Cheesecake is available in-store now for a limited time — $23 for 900g.
