What's new? Retail giant reveals massive store upgrades for customers!

Australia's shopping landscape has seen several changes over the years.

From supermarkets applying new technology in their stores to even a new set of rules when shopping, seniors have to navigate these switch-ups during their weekly shopping.

This time, one of Australia's biggest retailers is shaking things up, and here's what the SDC knows about it so far.

Kmart Australia recently unveiled a brand-new store layout and a raft of changes designed to keep up with the times.

The retail giant's latest revamp has been focused on attracting the next wave of shoppers.

While these changes have been heavy on the young ones, seniors may see some changes that they would like or enjoy later on.

Over a decade ago, Kmart placed their checkouts in the centre of stores, which earned criticism from shoppers.

This time, checkouts are now being moved back to the front entrance.

This change brought back the classic layout many senior shoppers remember.

The switch-up should also make it easier for shoppers to find their way out.

Kmart's new managing director, Aleks Spaseska, also revealed another massive change in their store layout.

According to Spaseska, fashion and beauty are now at Kmart's front and centre—literally.

'If you go into women's apparel today, you'll see we mostly sell all the tops together, the bottoms together, the dresses together. If you think about the way our merchants put the ranges together, it's a brand-new outfit,' Spaseska shared.

'When you walk the store in the new format, there's much more co-ordination through women's apparel, which allows customers to be much more inspired and helps with outfit building.'

'We've also brought beauty to the front of the store as well,' she added.

For customers eyeing bulkier items like furniture, these items have been moved to the back of the store.

This time, shoppers don't need to lug around massive items while browsing items in-store!

Kmart has introduced a digital 'select and collect' system, so shoppers could browse, order, and pick up bulky purchases easily.

The new layout has also been trialled in several Kmart locations, including the Mount Gravatt store in Brisbane.

According to the trial, the new layout had more foot traffic and stronger sales.

Four more stores are set to roll out the new format soon, and it should be applied to Kmart stores nationwide.

With all in-store changes, Kmart is also revamping another crucial part of their operations.

They are now switching their marketing strategies to appeal to younger shoppers.

Shoppers may see more Kmart content on social media, showcasing everything from fashion, beauty, homeware, and even cleaning products.

These changes could mean a more efficient shopping experience for everyone, especially seniors.

Whether you're shopping for yourself or your grandkids, there's something for everyone in the new Kmart.

With more space, better displays, and easier access to things shoppers need, your next shopping trip could be the best one yet.

I'm looking forward to seeing KMart's new layout, registers in the centre of the store are a complete nightmare and were very unpopular, I'm glad KMart have finally listened to their buying public. I hope they also put more manned checkouts in and do away with so many self serve ones, they're not faster as nearly everyone who uses them needs help from a staff member anyway, a total waste of time and lack of customer service.

I am so pleased that Kmart are bringing checkout counters to the front again. Going round and round like a sheep pen never made any sense to me, and then they have only one person doing security at the front, another poor decision in my opinion. Looking forward to the change in Bundaberg!

Only problem was with my local Kmart years ago, checkout queues and clothing racks all mingled and it was chaos for both people trying to check out and those wanting to see the clothing at the front of store! I hope by their plans to move the checkout to the front of store it will be over to the side at the front as it is in Target and other stores.
