Picture this: you’re out for a leisurely stroll in one of the most breathtaking spots in your neighbourhood. The sun gently sets, casting a golden hue on everything around you. The air is crisp, and you’re lost in a world of peaceful bliss. But guess what? Out of nowhere, like a bolt of lightning, comes a fearless jogger who’s decided clothes are just not their thing! That’s right, completely and utterly naked except for some socks, shoes, and a trusty bum bag!
That's what the walkers enjoying a lovely evening walk amidst the spring sunshine in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, were confronted with. Perhaps feeling a bit too in touch with nature, the man jogged through the trees with his nudity on full display, seemingly not bothered by the reactions of fellow walkers.
One witness couldn't contain their shock at 'all his bits swinging around' and promptly shared a video of the exhibitionist on social media. The anonymous poster had spotted the 'completely naked man jogging along' at the National Trust-owned woodlands around 6.30 pm accompanied by a fully-clothed female partner.
'To say disgusting would be an understatement,' the witness posted on the 'Real' Alderley Edge Facebook page.
'Why you would inflict that on anyone is beyond me. I am not sure whether or not to report this because of the early time when kids could have been up there and that it's unacceptable and intimidating.'
This isn't the first sighting of a mystery nude jogger in the area since the pandemic began. In fact, the man, who is often spotted wearing just a bum bag, has been seen at various spots in a 16-kilometre radius of Macclesfield.
Locals speculate that the man started his exhibitionist habit when the countryside was sparsely populated during the early days of the lockdown. But as the world returned to normal, his unusual running attire did not.
Cheshire Police have previously sought information about the man, known for baring his 'crown jewels' or hiding them with a 'teeny tiny bum-bag'. However, this is believed to be the first time the jogger has been caught on video.
In a lighthearted manner, the officers made it clear that when they asked for a description of the ‘naked man running in the hills on the borders of Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Derbyshire’, they were specifically referring to details about his face, not anything else, shall we say, distinctive body parts.
A similar-looking man was photographed jogging naked back in August 2020 near The Roaches, a dramatic rocky ridge above Leek in Staffordshire.
According to Anna Phillips, who was capturing paragliders on camera at the time, she found herself in an awkward situation when she made eye contact with the naked jogger. Unsure of where to direct her gaze, she decided against looking away to avoid any uncomfortable situations.
'We wished each other a “good evening” because that's the British thing to do, I guess, and he carried on running. I was just thinking, “I hope he doesn't trip and get a graze in a nasty place from all those rocks”’, she told reporters.
Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, a 46-year-old anonymous witness expressed their concern, stating, ‘It's wrong because a child might see him. He seemed to be pretty proud of it.’
They highlighted the increased foot traffic in the area since the pandemic lockdown restrictions ended, underscoring the possibility for anyone to come across such an unexpected sight.
