What was the highlight of your weekend?

Hi, members! It has been a while since we had an opportunity to chat about our life updates. So, what was the highlight of your weekend? I (Sethia) had the pleasure of joining a family reunion that my nan had planned, and it was an absolute delight! Reconnecting with relatives whom you haven’t seen in years truly is a magical feeling, eh? We had a blast catching up, reminiscing about old times, and creating new shared experiences that will undoubtedly be talked about for years to come!

I love family reunions , my mother organised one a few years back with 150 relatives The Brannigan clan turning up at Tenterfield .

We are looking at doing another one next year.

My weekend was full of cooking and trying out new recipes including fingerbuns exactly how they were when I was little. Very soft with sultanas and pink icing .

I managed to get around to making my Mini Christmas Pudding Muffins and downloaded the recipe to SDC.
Hope any one that makes them, enjoys them as much as my family does. I think they are the perfect size for Christmas dessert!!

I also love family reunions and always interesting when tracing our family trees (which I am doing) I also attended a family reunion in Tenterfield in 1988 and my old home town of Inverell in 2010. Great memories. The highlight of my week-end...some special news that my husband and I will become Grandparents in July next year!

How strange , my family are from Tenterfield and Inverell . I still have relatives up there including John Brannigan.
My mother just finished our family tree after 20 years and she has now given it all to me. Very interesting reading.
How far are you into it ?.

This is just a little of what we have

Wow that's amazing you also have relies from Inverell and Tenterfield! My Gran came from Tenterfield and maiden name Bailey and married my Grandfather Kimmorley. The Kimmorley family lived near Inverell. My mother also born there. A few have traced that side. A Kimmorley convict from London. I am mainly tracing my Dad's Egan side last 12 or so yrs in fits and starts. Another con from Dublin. Currently writing up the history of him. He came out in 1843 to Van Diemen's Land and was so happy when given his sentence he danced an Irish jig and said "thank you my lord, thats what I wanted!

My family The Brannigans came from Ireland 1890s . My grandmother's came from Liverpool England around the same time.
Funny thing My grandmother's family would put my grandfather's family down and would say things like those no good Irish Bastards and the no good for nothing's, but after reading the history of both sides My grandmother's English family were really bad , I mean really bad I can't even say why they were sent here it's that bad

Haha....amazing how one family put the other down! My Dublin/Tassie con helped build roads and bridges as part of the probation system. Sounds like a cheeky chap! If I locate his resting place I will also dance an Irish jig! Last known place Fords Bridge in his 80's out the back o Bourke! No death record can be found! Good on him I say!

Maybe the spelling of his name is slightly different eg our family names changed slightly when they cane to Australia from Branigan to Brannigan

He can be found listed under Egan/Eagan on some of the docs. He was widowed and working on a Station, so perhaps he wandered off and died. Cannot find him on Station burial listing. May he RIP. Thanks for chat. Cheers Lesley
