Washing up

4 kids in our house. Always an argument whose turn it was to dry the dishes. Dad always washed them & for some reason always used Velvet soap & steel wool on the saucepans fry pans etc. Then rinsed them off with boiling water from the kettle. They were always spotless.

The velvet soap might have been, because your dad's hands were sensitive to detergents. Growing up a neighbour never used clothes washing detergent, always grated velvet soap into the washing machine because of family skin sensitivity.
