Warning: This popular drink turns into ticking time bombs in your fridge!

We have an important safety alert that could impact your next refreshing sip. A widely enjoyed beverage is being removed from shelves nationwide due to an unexpected issue beyond flavour.

While details are still unfolding, consumers are urged to check their purchases. Staying informed could help you avoid an unwelcome surprise.

StrangeLove Beverage Company Pty Ltd has issued a recall for its Salted Grapefruit drink, available in both 180ml and 540ml bottles.

The reason is an unexpected fermentation process has turned these seemingly innocent bottles into potential projectiles, with the risk that they could explode, causing injury or, at the very least, a sticky mess.

The issue is that excess alcohol and carbonation, resulting from this unintended fermentation, can increase the pressure inside the bottle to dangerous levels.

'Food products containing excess alcohol and carbonation may result in bottle breakage or popping caps, and illness/injury,' the recall stated.

Consumers who have purchased this drink are strongly urged not to open or consume the product.

Instead, you should safely dispose of it. But don't just toss it in the bin, StrangeLove Beverages has provided instructions for safe disposal and is offering reimbursement for the product.
It's crucial to handle this recall responsibly to avoid any accidents.

If you're concerned about your health after having consumed the drink, it's wise to seek medical advice.

While the chances of injury may be slim, it's always better to err on the side of caution, especially when it comes to our health and wellbeing.

The recalled Salted Grapefruit drinks have been sold at major retailers including Coles, Woolworths, Dan Murphy's, BWS, Liquorland, First Choice, and independent retailers and Vintage Cellars, not to mention online outlets.

The specific best-before dates to look out for on the 180ml bottles are 23/05/2026 and 31/07/2026, and for the 540ml bottles, the dates are 05/01/2026, 09/02/2026, 19/03/2026, 04/05/2026, and 29/05/2026.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of paying attention to product recalls and safety warnings.

As convenient as it is to grab and go with our favourite drinks and foods, staying informed about the products we consume is vital.

It's also a testament that even the most reputable brands can face unforeseen issues, and how they handle these situations is crucial for consumer trust.

If you happen to have a bottle of the recalled Salted Grapefruit drink, take the necessary precautions.
