Well, this is certainly deeply concerning news. It seems that a popular vacuum model sold at ALDI stores has been urgently recalled over fears it could be a major safety disaster in the making.
The product in question is the Ferrex 1200 W 16 L Wet and Dry Vacuum (model NTS16), and it was available for purchase between October 8 - November 17, 2022, in NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, WA and the ACT.
The vacuum has the date code ’10/2022' and product code ’706650’, along with the barcode number ‘4088700197141’ and serial number range ’01001 - 14968’.
The recall has been issued by Product Safety Australia (PSA) due to the potential risks of the vacuum plug overheating when it’s being used and emitting sparks, smoke, or even catching on fire.
PSA released a statement earlier today saying, 'There is a risk the product may cause a fire which can result in serious injury to the user and other household occupants as well as damage to property'.
Members, if you have the vacuum in question, you are urged to return it to your nearest ALDI store where you will receive a full refund.
If you require any more information about this recall, you can contact the ALDI recall helpline at 13 25 34 or visit the ALDI website here.
If you know of any friends or family members who may have purchased this vacuum, please share this article with them and tell them to stop using the vacuum immediately. It’s always best to be proactive and stay one step ahead of any potential harm! Be careful, members!
