Warning: Popular car models recalled due to major internal defects

Members, if you drive a KIA Sorento or Honda CR-V and Civic, you need to pay close attention to this article - this is a serious safety concern.

The Federal Government's Department of Transport recently issued a recall notice for 2020-2022 MQ4 KIA Sorento vehicles. This affects 8,555 cars in total, so it's important to check if your model is among them.

What's the issue?

The issue stems from production issues, potentially causing a crack to develop in the circuit board of the transmission electric oil pump (EOP). As a result, the electric oil pump can fail, causing the vehicle to lose its drive power, break down, and seriously increase the risk of a crash.

It's an alarming development, and owners are now being advised to immediately contact a KIA dealer to have the transmission software updated.

'If the EOP fails, hydraulic pressure will be lost, and the vehicle may lose drive, thereby increasing the risk of an accident resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users,' the recall notice says.

The words of caution come after another similar car recall warning this week, in which 5,000+ Honda CR-V and Civic 2021-2022 models were recalled.

In this case, it was due to the window tint that may have been applied incorrectly, resulting in reduced visibility and increased risk of a crash.

Key Takeaways

  • More than 8000 KIA Sorento vehicles have been recalled due to production issues with their transmission electric oil pump (EOP). This could cause the oil pump to fail, increasing the risk of an accident.
  • The Honda CR-V and Civic 2021-2022 models have also been recalled due to their window tint being too dark and reducing visibility, potentially increasing the risk of an accident.
  • Owners of the affected vehicles should ensure their contact details are correct with the car manufacturer so they can be contacted and their vehicle may be fixed or returned.

Members, the main takeaway from these recall announcements is the importance of being up-to-date with the latest models and parts from your favourite car company. Don't wait until it's too late!

Also, be sure to check your contact details with your car manufacturer and dealer in case you need to be notified of any recalls that might affect your car.

We hope your car model isn't one being recalled, but if it is, we recommend you act swiftly to resolve the issue. Keep safe and alert, everyone!

BUT WAIT !! There's more ! I received a letter from Volvo no less , my Number 2 car has been recalled , and oldie but a goodie , an XC70 Wagon 2007 , the saga of the Takata Airbag is still out there . Stangely my lovley little Nissan that I brought with me from Tokyo has perfect airbags , go figure .

Modern technology; nice when it works but when it doesn't? Give me an old car with easily accessible mechanical fuel and oil pumps any day. The former on the side of the engine; the latter in an easily removable sump. Cars need not be "rocket science". KISS!

Now tell that to today's so-called mechanics.
They are simply Replacement Agents .. the book says Item No 671 has failed as shown on the computer read-out. Replace with Part No 4304958333750693743 be sure to check item No. 40-5958 as it's lifespan is almost complete.
They don't even know what a rotor arm is.. 30yrs ago maybe lots of people didn't know either but a NON-Mechanic could buy a User Repair Manual and would reference it in 10mins . .. Nowadays, it is all written in chinese and only Confucius would know which part it is. Also, you need a $25,000 computer made in china to find where the spare tyre is...LOL
