Very simple hack to save $80 from Woolworths and Coles every week

A video from TikTok went viral after showing a simple trick on how to save a significant amount off your weekly Woolworths and Coles groceries shop.

The TikTok user revealed how she orders her groceries over two separate days. Every Tuesday, she scans Woolworths and Coles weekly catalogues to check for the cheapest deals for the following week.

Both supermarkets release their new catalogues each week on Tuesday, but the weekly specials don’t come into effect until 12:01 AM on Wednesday.

The shopper takes advantage of the schedule and sources the latest cheap deals every Tuesday, then adds them to her cart.

However, she doesn’t check out the items right away. She pays for them on Wednesday, saving money.

“Saved around $80!”

The TikTok user revealed the hack takes $80 off her weekly shop and around $200 a fortnight.

“I check out the new catalogue every Tuesday, add items to the cart and then check out my cart when the sale starts!”

Weird, if she waited until the next day (when the specials started) she'd get the same result... or have I misunderstood. As to saving $80 on a $200 shop, and knowing that staples are rarely heavily discounted, I have my doubts sorry. :cautious:

Or you could just order your groceries on Wednesday, doh.

I would hardly call this a hack. The only advantage would be that you might get your specials before they ran out of stock. Ordering one day and paying the next is not going to save you any more money than if you just consulted the catalogue on Tuesday and shopped on Wednesday, or consulted the catalogue on Wednesday and shopped on Wednesday, or Thursday, etc.

I totally agree with you. I start doing my order on Tuesday, simply for convenience and include the new Wednesday specials which are charged at the normal Tuesday prices. Once The week changes on Wednesday the new specials prices come into effect. $80 saving, very doubtful and near impossible unless she is only buying quantities of the specials and nothing else.
