Vehicles Australia announces two ute recalls after safety concerns

For many Australians, utes are more than just vehicles; it's a reliable partner for work, errands, and everything in between.

That's why it's crucial to stay informed about vehicle safety.

Recently, two vehicle manufacturers issued recalls that may concern a number of motorists.

Mazda Australia issued a recall affecting 912 Mazda BT-50 units across the country.

The popular ute was recalled due to a manufacturing defect that could have severe implications.

According to the recall notice, the ute's left-leaf spring bracket may not have been welded properly.

This defect could lead to the bracket cracking and, eventually, loss of vehicle control.

The defect could raise the risk of an accident, potentially leading to injury or death while on the road.

In light of the recall, Mazda Australia already started reaching out to owners of the affected BT-50 units.

Owners of the affected utes need to schedule an appointment with their local Mazda dealer.

A technician should run an inspection on the ute's leaf spring bracket.

If necessary, Mazda will replace it for free.

This service was part of Mazda's commitment to their customers' safety and satisfaction.

Vehicles Australia posted the full recall notice and the list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) here.

For those who may be concerned or seeking more information about the BT-50 recall, customers may call Mazda Australia through their hotline at 1800 034 411.

On the other hand, RAM ute owners also need to keep an eye on their vehicles.

Drivers cruising around RAM 1500 or 2500 now need to pause and check if their vehicle is among those affected by another recall.

Ateco Automotive, the Australian distributor for RAM, issued critical recall notices for several utes due to defective airbag inflators.

According to the recall notice, if an airbag inflator ruptures, compressed gas could escape rapidly.

This defect could turn several interior items into dangerous projectiles and lead to injuries.

The first recall involved a manufacturing defect that could cause the right-side curtain airbag inflator to rupture unexpectedly.

This recall first affected 17 examples of the DS-series 1500 and DJ-series 2500 ute models manufactured from 2018 to 2019.

The second recall involved a defect that could lead to both the left- and right-side curtain airbag inflators rupturing.

This recall was specific to DS-series 1500 vehicles manufactured from 2019.

Given the potential risks, owners of these vehicles should take immediate action.

The third recall was for a defect that could cause the left-side curtain airbag inflator to rupture.

Nine examples of the DS-series 1500 from 2018 to 2019 were included in the notice.

For all these recalls, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) lists and the original recall notices are available on Vehicle Recalls Australia's website.

Affected RAM 1500 or 2500 owners should contact an authorised RAM dealership immediately.

They should inspect your vehicle and, if necessary, replace the airbag inflators for free.

For any further questions or concerns about this series of recalls, vehicle owners may reach out to RAM Customer Support directly at 1300 681 792.

We urge affected vehicle owners to take immediate action if they own any of the vehicles mentioned.

Check your respective VINs on Vehicle Recalls Australia's website.
