Valtournenche, Italy (yearly celebrations)
Valtournenche is a town in the Aosta Valley region of north-western Italy, 1500 m above the sea level. I loved visiting the area, which is located just a handful of kilometres away from Cervinia at the feet of the majestic Matherhorn. Every year at the end of September they celebrate Dézarpa. It closes the summer season and is a custom that celebrates the return in the valley from the mountain pastures, where cows are brought to graze in the warmer months of the year. It is a must to have flowers on yourself and children especially love it as you can see from the picture that I took when I was there as part of the parade!
