Just an aside, our great grandparents had an average life expectancy in the late 50's to mid 60's... go figure!

My wife has suffered from Osteo Arthritis for most of her lfe, she had had both knees replaced which enabled her to walk again without pain. She has bad back pain (spinal) many homeopathic remedies have been tried and failed as her digestive system cannot tolerate most of the stuff contained. She has had her right shoulder replaced in a bid to ease the pain on her dominant side.. to no avail a very poor choice, or bad choice of surgeon maybe. At 87 she is dependent on paracetamol osteo for any sort of relief. In our great grandparents time she'd be long gone..

Maggie96 may not be a Dr but would be in considerable pain and may not be in a position to try alternatives. I have Psioratic Arthritis and OA, and multiple other health conditions. I cannot use a number of herbs and spices as they will interact with other medications. A person with chronic pain and possible comorbidities needs all the support they can get.

My paternal grandmother died at age 48. She was riddled with rheumatoid arthritis and wheelchair bound for 22years. She tried everything the doctors and female friends recommended. However, she was severely crippled and required help for almost half her life. Medically things change generationally and we all need to respect that, and respect those who are struggling
