Urgent recall: Popular gourmet dip pulled due to contamination risk

A famous gourmet dip has been urgently recalled due to a serious health risk.

Paradise Beach Purveyors' Smoked Trout and Chive Dip 150g is contaminated with bacteria that can cause listeriosis, a potentially life-threatening infection.

The recall is due to the detection of listeria monocytogenes in the product.

The affected product has a use-by date of 07/10/24 and has been stocked at various independent retailers, including IGA stores across New South Wales and Harris Farm Markets in NSW and Queensland.

If you've recently indulged in a shopping spree at any of these locations, checking your fridge and pantry to ensure you don't have this particular dip in your collection is crucial.

Listeria monocytogenes is known to cause severe illness, particularly in individuals with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly, pregnant women, newborns, and those with underlying health conditions.

The statement said, ‘The general population can also become ill from consuming food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. '

‘Consumers should not eat this product.’

If you have purchased the Paradise Beach Purveyors Smoked Trout and Chive Dip with the specified use-by date, you are entitled to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

For those who consumed the contaminated dip, it's advisable to seek immediate medical attention.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary. In the meantime, stay informed and stay safe by keeping an eye on food recalls and maintaining good food hygiene practices.
