Unruly traveller sparks major flight delay after heated seatbelt standoff

Disruptions during air travel can be more than just a minor inconvenience, especially when they lead to unexpected delays and heightened tensions onboard.

What began as a routine pre-flight check soon spiralled into a heated confrontation between the crew and a passenger, capturing the attention of everyone on board.

What unfolded next left travellers frustrated, authorities stepping in, and an entire flight was thrown into chaos.

A chaotic scene unfolded on a Batik Air flight from Vietnam to Malaysia when a passenger’s refusal to fasten her seatbelt caused a significant delay.

The incident, which was captured on video by another passenger, delayed the flight for over an hour.

Crew members conducting routine cabin checks before takeoff noticed that the woman, travelling with her child, had not buckled her seatbelt.

When asked to comply, the Vietnamese passenger reportedly threw a tantrum.

Footage showed her arguing with a female flight attendant, who tried to defuse the situation calmly.

‘Stop yelling at me,’ said the crew member, while the passenger repeatedly shouted, ‘You pointed at my face.’

The flight attendant explained that wearing the seatbelt was essential ‘for safety purposes, not just for you, but also for your child.’

‘I don’t care, I don’t have to listen to you,’ the woman yelled back.

Witnesses reported that the altercation escalated, prompting authorities to board the Boeing 737 and remove the unruly traveller.

The delay frustrated passengers, who were seen cheering as the woman and her child were escorted off the aircraft.
