Unleash the hidden cleaning power of your morning cuppa for crystal-clear windows

Over time, people often become connoisseurs of the simple pleasures in life, one of which is the ritual of a morning cup of tea. But did you know that your daily brew could also be your secret weapon for achieving sparkling clean windows?

That's right, members of the Seniors Discount Club, it's time to look at your humble cuppa in a whole new light!

The professional cleaning experts at Southampton Gutters spilt the beans—or should we say, leaves—on a window cleaning method that is not only cost-effective, costing mere cents, but also outperforms many of the pricier options on the market.

The secret ingredient? None other than the black tea bags you might already have in your kitchen cupboard.

It turns out that the caffeine and tannins in black tea are more than just a pick-me-up for your senses; they also possess natural cleaning properties.

These molecules release a chemical from the tea bag that can leave your windows with an enviable sparkle.

Here's how you can put this tip into practice: Save your used tea bags by storing them in the fridge to keep them fresh, or if you prefer, you can use new ones.

You'll need just four tea bags, two cups of boiling water, and a trusty spray bottle.

But a word of caution—be mindful of delicate surfaces, as black tea has the potential to stain.

Dean May, the Owner of Southampton Gutters, shared, 'Not everyone can afford professional window cleaning services or expensive brands. That's why we're sharing this eco-friendly window cleaning spray.’

‘It not only saves you money but is also kind to the environment. The best part is that you can make it from something you'd otherwise throw away,’ he added.

To concoct this magical cleaning elixir, place your tea bags in a glass bowl, pour in about two cups of boiling water, and let it steep for five to ten minutes until it reaches a hue darker than your strongest cup of tea.

Once it's cooled down to a safe temperature, transfer the liquid into a spray bottle. Then, simply spray it onto your glass surfaces and wipe it away after 30-45 seconds.

Not only is this method incredibly simple and effective, but it also aligns with a growing desire among many of us to opt for more natural and eco-friendly cleaning solutions.

As we become more conscious of the impact our choices have on the environment, utilising everyday items like tea bags for multiple purposes is a small step towards a more sustainable lifestyle.

You can also find several ways to reuse your tea bags. Watch it here:
